There's a not very well known Brazilian goregrind band called Flesh Grinder (of course) who have a new album (check out this title) Crumb's Crunchy Delights Organization. There's a couple of songs on the MySpace page. I love these dudes. I thought Prostitute Disfigurement would be the most disgusting album I heard this year. Nope.

Grind bands can be pretty rough (cough Anal Cunt cough)...

So, Dub Trio's album that came out this year on Ipecac is way more intense than I was expecting... WITH DUB THROWN IN!!! It's pretty awesome...

Anal Cunt/Agorophobic Nosebleed/Pig Destroyer are more screamo-core. I'm not a huge fan either. Flesh Grinder harken (sp?) back to the early goregrind days of Carcass - a la Reek of Putrefaction or Symphonies of Sickness. That's a totally different sound than Anal Cunt and the like.

I like Pig Destroyer but I've not been able to get into Anal Cunt nor Agorophobic Nosebleed.. I've always heard them referred to as Grindcore so I've never bothered to delve any further.

I put Necroticism - Descanting the Insalubrious because it's the only Carcass I have and you're right... sounds nothing like any of those other three bands (a hell of a lot more listenable haha).

That screamocore nomenclature is pretty sickening. I think what you mean to say is that those bands have an edge to them that separates them from classical or typical grind bands. If you really want to use the word screamo, use it properly. Screamo bands (for better or worse):

Orchid
Ampere
Textbook Traitors
Love Like...Electrocution
Welcome the Plague Year

And the type of left of center grind you're thinking of includes (if I'm not mistaken):

Crowpath
The Great Redneck Hope
The Locust
Agoraphobic Nosebleed

Hey, man, not trying to offend anyone's sensibilities here. You can call the bands whatever you want. I don't listen to any of that screamo stuff.

Holy shit, Albino De Congo will probably wind up on my year-end list! Brutal vocals mixed with the jazzy elements makes for a great listen! That was a great recommendation, ezatlien.

Also, it has that classic fuzzy/distorted/poorly produced quality that made it sound like this album was mastered in the early 90s!

Ok, I am totally excited and pissed off at the same time about this Dutch band I just "discovered" called Urfaust. Excited because they have a new EP out that is actually available. Pissed off because the EP is only 20 minutes, and their previous full-lengths are all but impossible to find (through "legal" channels, anyway). Nominally, a fuzzed out black metal band, but with really unique vocals - clean in part, somewhat operatic (someone described the vocals as "Ethel Merman-esque"). Well, you just need to hear them and you'll know what I'm talking about. I'm on a mission to find more stuff from these guys.

JGlass, funny enough, these guys are doing a mini-tour in September in Finland with none other than Lugubrum. Needless to say, when I found that out, it made total sense.

I'm on it. I'll get back to you.

I am looking for brutal death metal that is easy to meditate to. Vocals that are basically low screeches and easy to tune out. Stuff that sounds like Torsofuck, Saprogenic and Devourment.
That's hilarious.

EDIT: In typical Jackson fashion, I grabbed everything of theirs I found haha (well, not only because of your rec but also because the people which uploaded the albums always upload really good albums). I grabbed Verraterischer Nichtswwurdiger Geist, Drei Rituale jenseits des Kosmos (the 2008 "mini-album"), and Geist ist Teufel.

This is distinctly not 2008-related, but I have been turned on to this band called Pagan Altar. The story behind the band is quite incredible. They formed in 1976, and released an album Volume 1 in 1982 - implying Vols. 2, etc would eventually follow. That's not exactly what happened. Basically the band broke up some time after Vol. 1, and weren't heard from again - until a few years ago, that is. Apparently, they had some kind of cult following and remaine relatively popular for those 20 years or so. So, they decided to get back together and record some songs that were written way back in the early 80's but never released. Those songs were released as Lords of Hypocrisy a few years ago.

The sound? I guess the easiest way to describe them would be Black Sabbath mixed with Jethro Tull. Very interesting stuff, and well worth checking out. They coulda been somebody.

I would think Anal Cunt is noise-core if anything but I don't know how often that term is used. Screamo-core just doesn't quite fit them as well as it does PigD and Agoraphobic Nosebleed (because AxCx has so little melody or structure or whatever that would be called in their case). AgorNose calls themselves grind but i think you are right in calling them screamo-core especially on some of their later stuff.

/\/\/\Checked out "Perth Express" it's intense and you dl tracks from the myspace too.

Seriously, though, this was a wicked suggestion. I haven't been this not-disappointed since getting laid for the first time ten years ago.

Funny, since I recommended that album I went back to their older stuff - which was even more br00tal - but still catchy. I love catchy death metal that slams you in the face.
