Hey, all. Why don't we have a Best of Metal thread for 2007? We all know that metal albums will get the shaft in the main "Best of..." thread, so why not start our own. I'm not sure we even need to keep score, but rather just list your Top 10 or 20 for the year. (I haven't made up my list yet.)

Plenty. Pig Destroyer, Cephalic Carnage, Xasthur, Wrath of the Weak, Neurosis, High on Fire, Wolves in the Throne Room, 3 Inches of Blood, Portal, Bergraven, Baroness, to name a few.

Neurosis and Begraven sounded pretty cool, and pig destroyer deserves some respect. But compared to Metallica, Pantera, and Megadeth, these bands are totally unworthy, imo.

Funny. I was going to reply to his response a few days ago, but then I started writing...and I thought...well, it's Hudson. So, do I really care?

I can't really remember many, but I know there were some great ones that came out.
Nice user name.
The best metal album of this year was The Pax Cecilia's Blessed Are the Bonds. Hands down nothing can touch it. They even offer the album completely free through their website so I recommend you guys all get it.
Pig Destroyer - Phantom Limb Watain - Sworn to the Dark Deathspell Omega - Fas High On Fire - Death is this Communion Baroness - The Red Album Electric Wizard - Witchcult Today Angelic Process - Weighing Souls With Sand SunnO))) - Oracle Ulver - Shadows of the Sun
Well I was going to bring a few new ones into here, but JB pretty much kicked my ass on that.
My favorites.
Angelic Process Deathspell Omega Pig Destroyer High On Fire Electric Wizard Neurosis
Actually I'm pretty sure those are the only metal albums I've listened to all the way through more than 3 times this year, but I like them all to some extent.

The Red album is great, but I'm thinking the older stuff may be even better. Does anyone know how to get a hold of the first two albums? They seem hard to find.

Thanks, Jglass, but I'm looking for the CD. Anyway, does anyone here listen to Alcest? Apparently, they (he?) were black metal at one point, but the new album sounds completely indie-fied to me. It's actually pretty good to my ears, although a lot of metal dudes would be pretty upset to hear me say that. Oh, well. That's the price I pay for not caring about what other people think.

Oh, could I feel as I have felt, or be what I have been, Or weep as I could once have wept, o'er many a vanished scene; As springs in deserts found seem sweet, all brackish though they be, So, midst the withered waste of life, those tears would flow to me.
