well... i listen to all of those bands on a pretty regular basis. and i enjoy all of their music and think they are leaps and bounds better than most aggressive music around. if i had to choose favorites out of that, i'd say check out achilles, akimbo, breather resist, coliseum, cursed, eyehategod, floor, graves at sea, high on fire, intronaut, jesu, neurosis, pig destroyer, saviours, torche, trap them, yob, and young widows. still a pretty big list.... but honestly i listen to all these bands on a consistent basis.

don't get me wrong... i love sunn 0))), its just not really for everyone. and i have to be in the right mood to listen to them, the bands i just listed are bands i can pretty much listen to at any given moment and automatically get into it. but with sunn 0))) the mood has to strike just right and then there's nothing better.

mmmm. The Melvins. I think Pelican are pretty good, and word from the Primavera Festival is that they played the best show there. Grimreefer, you list Neurosis as regularly played but guessing from your Sunn 0))) comment, are you listening to OLDER Neurosis? I haven't heard much of the music on your list, except fopr Jesu, COL, ISIS, and about ten others. Will check some out. Thanks! Oh, and you might like French Metal band Gojira and Devon Townsend's Ziltoid release.

I'm really into the new neurosis record. i feel its a definite return to form after their last record kind of fell short. i'd have to say my favorite neurosis record is 'a sun that never sets'.

thanks for the suggestions... i think i've heard gojira before, but i'll look more into them. and i'll look into the ziltoid thing too. i like my metal/aggressive music with a little bit something extra to it. it needs to pop out at me in such an over-saturated genre.
