A side scrolling platform game would kind of be like Donkey Kong Country 2 or something of that nature. But thats an old game I can't think of any right now just off the top of my head that are new, partly because side scrolling is getting washed out by 'open ended sandbox worlds'
p.s.-I guess most of these kind of games appear on the GameBoy Advance, like the Incredibles, Tak, Lizzy Miguire. Castlevania on the DS is another example of it too.
