Game Informer has an interview with Sony's Kaz Hirai about the PSP, and he reveals:

If you are playing a game that is consistently cycling through and putting the CPU to good use, yeah, battery life is going to be shorter. Maybe about two and a half, three hours.

It's pretty crucial for Sony to extend the battery life of the PSP. With the DS having 6-10 hours easy of battery life, the PSP will be a very expensive paper weight.

the battery life is only short if you don't use headphones. I know they are coming out with a new battery pack for it though.

I agree with you on that matter. Things like that can easily be solved what's important is how you can take good care of your PSP.
