But their sales must be terrible. They came out here at around AUS$550 a few months ago, and I saw them advertised today for AUS$100.

Sure its got its shortcomings, but its not that bad as a phone or a game console, is it?

It's a ridiculous console. In fact, I saw a guy using as a phone the other day (talking into the spine - essentially the "side" of the thing) looking ridiculous. None of the games are that great (see the games section for scores), but the absolutely stupid part, from my perspective, is that you have to remove the battery just to change games. The new version, which comes out later this year, remedies that. I think Nokia sold about 500 (yes 500) in the U.S. during its opening month. Pathetic.

The guy you allegedly saw using an N-Gage must have been a Nokia executive... I was not aware they actually sold any of those things.

A lot of people at E3 were using them, mostly European developers.

It's a pretty sad lot, however the QD doesn't look TOO horrible. It'll still do better than the Gizmondo.

I noticed those guys in the LONG line at the opening breakfast. Dorks... But yes, the new iteration of the N-Gage with the actual game slot looks like a huge improvement. I just have a feeling the PSP and DS will leave it in the portable dust pile.

Yes, the hardware has improved, but what about the N-Gage games? I agree with your last sentence. Because the N-Gage games can't even compete with the GBA (SP).

Its the shape of the screen that really hurts the games. Apparently Sonic is virtually unplayable because you cant see anything infront of you.

It's a machine that had the right idea but was executed horribly. The vertical screen was the worst idea since the Sega 32x.

The Metallic Taco is truely awful. Not to mention inserting a new game is like taking apart a pistol. The QD is better, but still pretty bad. Nokia made an awful mistake releasing this travesty. I can't believe they expected us to spend money on this.

The N-gage is a piece of crap, no doubt about it. Yet, I won't be surprised if a video game collecter buys one, just because if they aren't common in the near future, they may be worth something.
