Just thought I'd post my impressions of Scrabble 2007 for the DS as there doesn't seem to be any reviews for it on the web yet. The game features a quick play mode , a career mode, and 3 mini games. I haven't tried the multiplayer.

The career mode lets you play matches in various locations against increasingly difficult opponents. I've so far completed the first tournament and have had fun and some challenge. I'm far from a Scrabble genius and lost a couple of times to the final opponent of the first tournament.

The mini games are fun for a few minutes but nothing to write home about.

The graphics are well implemented, the default view being a zoomed out view where the entire board is visible. The letters are small but perfectly readable. Tapping the stylus zooms into a portion of the board so you can read off letter values and bonus squares. You play a word by dragging letters from your rack onto the board, and re-organise them by dragging tile around your rack.

Play is quick, with the AI never taking more than a few seconds to play a word or pass its turn. When a word is played its definition appears in the top DS screen, so you'll pick up a lot of strange new vocabulary over time.

Unlike previous pc versions, there are no hints or suggestions about what your best or highest scoring play is. All in all, the game is fairly reasonable version of Scrabble that is well implemented for the DS platform. It lacks bells and whistles but should satisfy casual Scrabble fans. Serious Scrabble nuts will be better off with the pc version or playing the real game. Well worth the £19.99 asking price.
