Today, while reading Mission Freak (a local music blog), I found out about a Spanish artist called El Guincho. His music sounds like a more upbeat, messy, Spanish Panda Bear, and I like it a lot. It's a bit repetitive at times, but fans of Person Pitch would probably enjoy it. After listening to it a few times, the repitition no longer bothers me. You can hear almost the whole album (which I don't think has been released in the US) on his myspace. (edit: I found out that it was released in Australia this year, so I'm counting it on my list...so it sort of still belongs here but not entirely)

the books are great, and a friend recently got me into them. their music is a tangle of folk, electronic music, and a wide range of samples. their debut "thought for food" is stellar and i would highly recommend this to anyone.

I just started getting into funk/soul icon Andre Williams. A lot of his songs are weird lyrically, but he does have the funk and his voice is very reminiscent of Screamin' Jay Hawkins.
I never hated any of you/I loved you all at the time

A friend told me that The Books' "Read, Eat, Sleep" (one of their best songs!!) is featured in a Hummer advertisement. I haven't seen it, but I find it pretty hard to believe...
Has anyone else seen this commercial?!

I'm a big fan of the Books' The Lemon of Pink, but I've never much liked their other albums. Thought for Food has several good songs on it, but there are also some flat-out awful songs, like that spelling bee one.

got a GY!BE and Silver Mt. Zion album so i'm gonna be checking them out for the first time this week. the only post-rock i know so far are Sigur Ros, Explosions in the Sky and a tiny bit of Mogwai. i'm sure i'll like it a lot, i just hadn't had the time to give them a try.

if you have trouble getting into lift your skinny fists, keep listening. its definitely worth it - this album took me a while to get into, but i now consider it one of my ten favorite albums of all time.
honestly, i would recommend the entire godspeed and silver mt. zion discography. in my eyes efrim can do no wrong.

will do. although i'm pretty confident i won't have too much trouble enjoying it since i really enjoy the genre. i've already listened to Silver Mt. Zion's Born into trouble... three times and like what i'm hearing. a lot calmer than i expected, which is refreshingly different

First post! Seeing how Protest the Hero's got the best rating on Meta's music review chart so far, I just had to take a listen to it and it sure blew me away!
I've never heard of anything like this before, actually maybe I have in The Mars Volta, but there's just something about PTH that's different - perhaps the fact there isn't much of a constant rhythm in most of their songs?
Nevertheless, PTH has got to be the best new to me music so far! Any objections?

Now it's "Best New Music" on P4K. Am I cool now?

Yeah, it's weak. BTW, it only has 5 reviews on MC last I checked. If you want to listen to some honest-to-goodness real metal, try Saviours "Into Abaddon", which came out recently. That'll put an end to your girlish ways.

Children Of Bodom is a new band that I've just recently gotten into. They've got a new album coming out in April and I couldn't help but notice they have a huge following. Good slightly melodic death metal. The album that did it for me was Hate Crew Deathtroll.
