Not too sure whether to call this a 2007 or 2008 track but I'll be damned if High Places' "Head Spins" isn't the most addictive song I've heard this year.

I had a stick of CareFree gum, but it didn't work. I felt pretty good while I was blowing that bubble, but as soon as the gum lost its flavor I was back to pondering my mortality.

The Field's remix of The Honeydrips' "Fall From a Height" + some live instrumentation from !!! = a great way to start the week.

The only songs that I'm pretty sure are going on my list, not in order:

"Sober Driver" by Dengue Fever
"I Stand Corrected" by Vampire Weekend
"Lie Down Here (& Be My Girl)" by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
"Into the Sunshine" by El Perro del Mar
"Hopscotch Willie" by Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks
"Black Hole" by She & Him
"We Carry on" by Portishead

I have 23 more to fill in to make my list complete.

And did I mention "Sober Driver" by Dengue Fever?

Thank you so much. That was amazing.

I need that song now, simply beautiful. I hope that they post an MP3, like they did with No Age.

Isn't Hopscotch Willie the funnest little jammy throwaway...I've cooled some on the album as a whole...but that song will be very near the top of my year end list...saw him last weekend at Coachella...song is absolutely explosive live...the riffs coming off the songs many change ups are just so damn good.

I Stand Corrected - Yeah, there's a good chance this will ultimately be my favorite track of VW too.

May agree with you on Nick Cave choice if I can ever get past replaying Opening track over and over again. Good chance right now Dig will be my top choice for album of the year.

Portishead were unbelievable at Coachella, and the new songs held up quite well against Dummy's signature tracks.

I did put it in the "best songs of 2008" topic, didn't I? =P It's so weird, but I love it.

I've listened to "Polychords" by Matmos 27 times TODAY. Awesome, awesome song.

Oh, it goes well with these nintendo clips too.

Epic Last Song by Does it offend you, yeah? is probably the best song of the year so far.
Red Socks Pugie by the Foals is a worthy listen.
As is Waving Flags by British Sea Power, and also, Rotten Hell by Menomena.
Oh, and Black Ending by Post War Years.

I thought no one was going to mention "Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!" but I'm glad two people did because it's such a cool song.
Go on give it one listen, that's all it takes.

I really like Grapevine Fire's off of Death Cab's new album. There's an almost Songs: Ohia vibe to it.

Wow, now there's two bands I never would've connected. If Death Cab has gone the Songs: Ohia route, they've definitely changed up their sound, even if it's just one song.

HaHa. Note I said 'almost', I do like it a lot, although I think my Songs: Ohia comparison is only gonna make it look a bit juvenile.
