My top ten songs of '08 so far. Yes, I know it's early in the year to be doing this.

01. Trifonic - "Lies"
02. Morcheeba - "Enjoy The Ride"
03. Headstrong - "Love Calls (Floris de Haan Mix)"
04. Cicada - "Same Old Scene (Cicada Remix)"
05. Ernesto vs. Bastian - "Sound of Soul"
06. The Rolling Stones - "You Can't Always Get What You Want (Soulwax Mix)"
07. Lange - "Remember You"
08. AmpLive - "15 Stepz"
09. Tocadisco - "Better Begin"
10. The Micronauts - "Reaction"

This will probably change quite a bit as the year goes on.

"Listen to the silence in between. It's louder than the bombs when they come screaming in."

An early favorite for song of the year might just be Jason Anderson's "July 4, 2004", which I just a really fun song in a similar vein to The Hold Steady. The whole album is really good, but this song stands out the most.

Whoa. That XXXChange remix of Santogold's "L.E.S. Artistes" is excellent.

I had the original as one of my 5 favorite songs last year. What a great song. I'll have to check out the remix but will be tough to convert me considering how much I like the original.

My favorite of theirs is either "We Are All Accelerated Readers" or "This Is How You Spell 'HAHAH, We Destroyed the Hopes and Dreams of a Generation of Faux-Romantics'", which of are two of the more unheralded tracks on the album. Which speaks to how solid of a debut Hold On Now, Youngster is.

There is a new Grizzly Bear song out there that was recorded live on KCRW. It's called "While You Wait For The Others", and it's absolutely incredible. If they make an albums worth of this sound they could destroy the world.
