I've been crazy obsessed with "Two Handed Handshake," the last bonus track on Stay Positive, recently. I know it's a cliche to say, but how was a song this good left off the album? Those horns!

Both of the Grizzly Bear songs—"Two Weeks" and "While You Wait for the Others"—are pretty marvelous, if you ask me. The latter was debuted on Conan's show in April and the former on Letterman a week or so ago. They are both highly recommended and are two of 'the best songs of 2008.'

They are choosing an interesting method to get their new material out. There is still no announcement on when the album is coming out but I suspect there will be something stated soon. And besides their touring with Radiohead, premiering the new songs on the late night shows is cool.

Either way, I can't wait for their new album. If the two aforementioned are any indication of how good the album will sound, well, it will be excellent—guaranteed.

"Lost Verses" is hands down the best song of 2008 in my opinion. One of the best songs of the 00s too.

I'm going to do something a bit different a list my favorite groups of 3 straight songs on albums from 2008.

1. Plants and Animals: Good Friend - Faerie Dance - Feedback in the Field
---Hard to find a better triplet of songs than this on an album in my whole CD collection.

2. The Dodos: Paint the Rust - Park Song - Jodi
---"Park Song" is a playful tune I often go back to, "Jodi" is arguably the best Dodos song.

3. Sam Roberts: End of the Empire - The Pilgrim - Waking the Dead
---Every song on Love at the End of the World is so replayable so it was hard to chose, but "Waking the Dead" is one my favorites of the year, and the previous 2 are solid.

4. Beck: Chemtrails - Modern Guilt - Youthless
---"Chemtrails" is spooky excellence, "Modern Guilt" is a straight up rock song, and "Youthless" has one catchy bass line.

5. Sun Kil Moon: Lost Verses - The Light - Lucky Man
---Before I get all worn out listening to this album, there's 3 gems to start the album off fantastically. "Lost Verses" is an amazing song.

6. Fleet Foxes: Sun it Rises - White Winter Hymnal - Ragged Wood
7. Takka Takka: Monley Forest Road - Silence - The Takers
8. Death Cab For Cutie: Bixby Canyon Bridgee - I Will Possess Your Heart - No Sunlight
9. The Raconteurs: Consoler of the Lonely - Salute Your Solution - You Don't Understand Me
10. The Accidental: Knock Knock - Wolves - I Can Hear Your Voice
10. Coldplay: Life in Technicolour - Cemetaries of London - Lost!

Sam Roberts hasn't disappointed me yet. His debut LP was gold, his follow-up was just as good, if not better, and this definitely has a different feel than Chemical City but he delivered once again.
He doesn't do anything too mind-bending, but what he does do is consistently write great songs, with meaningful lyrics straight from the heart. (And they rock.) A great person too, very socially aware, a funny interview, and unbelievable live.
I could go on and on about this guy, he's nothing but class.

Both good songs, although "Paper Planes" was a 2007 track.
