I haven't got the Primal Scream leak CN, but I've read about that sort of thing happenning, where a leak is just a section of the track looped over and over, not the actual full songs. So, if it sounds like it's not the real thing, probably isn't.

I'll do a whopping top 4:

1. Vampire Weekend - s/t
2. The Mountain Goats - Heretic Pride
3. Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago
4. The Raconteurs - Consolers of the Lonely

Am I the only one who really likes my #4? I suppose that I am just a sucker for all things Jack White.

I love Consolers for the Lonely. I think it's gotten a bum rap. "Many Shades of Black" and "Five On The Five" are two of the best songs this year. Top 10 album for me.

I was surprised to hear that they veto'd his mix. I'd also love to hear Dave's mix of the album to compare.

Does anyone else have the leak of Primal Scream's new one? Assuming this isn't the finished product (i doubt it is), i feel like this might be a damn fine album that will factor into many a list come crunch time.
I only listened to the first track which didn't sound looped, but all I was thinking throughout it was "god this is awful" anyways.

Well, i read that the one i got was looped in a comment on the blog (so archaic, i know, but i like reading people's opinions), but i can safely say that this will fare better with critics than the last one.

I pray for another XTRMNTR though at some point. Gillespie is the best when he's pissed off.

I think the criticisms of it being to "Busy" at times are justified, but a do like most of the first ten songs.

The one part of 2008 that I love more than any past year is that there is no consensus number one (well besides there being no Radiohead release this year Razzer)

I like this year much more than the last because only a half (or a 2/3 as someone said) of it gave me more interesting things than the whole 2007. As many people here I'm open to your recommendations. As for now:

4. Atlas Sound - Let the Blind... (9.3)
5. No Age - Nouns (9.2)

One more update from me, who's list is slowly growing. I'm feeling excited about new music for the first time in awhile.

The Top

1. Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago
2. Spiritualized - Songs in A&E
3. Titus Andronicus - The Airing of Grievances
4. High Places - 03/07 - 09/07
5. Murder by Death - Red of Tooth and Claw
6. Wolf Parade - At Mount Zoomer
7. Fleet Foxes - s/t
8. M83 - Saturdays = Youth
9. My Morning Jacket - Evil Urges

Other albums I expect could make waves

The Hold Steady - Stay Positive (Love this band. I'm hearing good things. Should get it today!)
Portishead - Third (listened through a couple of times and I like it. Sounds like it'll end up in a decent spot.)

Albums I'm interested in but have slept on

Atlas Sound - Let the Blind... (I've heard a couple of tracks and liked them. I need to hear the rest)
Sun Kil Moon - April (I really like "Unlit Hallway")
Man Man - Rabbit Habbits (can't believe I still haven't listened to this)

The rest of the year is looking pretty thin on releases. At least that'll give me some time to listen to the things I missed.

I had a stick of CareFree gum, but it didn't work. I felt pretty good while I was blowing that bubble, but as soon as the gum lost its flavor I was back to pondering my mortality.

I've seen this album referred to as this a couple of times. The album is called Lust Lust Lust. We are people calling it Lush Lush Lush?

Thanks.
I suck at descriptions for bands, but I’ll give it my best shot, and I’ll try to find some good descriptions from sites too.

The Accidental – There Were Wolves
myspace.com/theaccidental
The band consists of 3 guys and a girl. (Former Tunng singer Sam Genders is in the band.) They play slow-moving folk songs. The harmonies are REALLY good, Hannah Caughlin’s voice is amazing.
“Mostly acoustic instruments hum and pierce with precise sincerity.” – EW
“In this strange, hushed music, with words that don’t rhyme and often take their imagery from mundane things like orange juice and suede shoes, the Accidental has crafted a truly beautiful set of songs.” – PopMatters

Noah and the Whale – Peaceful, The World Lays Me Down
myspace.com/noahandthewhale
This album will probably end up in the top 10 at the end of the year for me.
The sound just really appeals to me. It’s happy music. Indie-pop-folk-rock.
The album is full of handclaps, acoustic guitars, xylophones, ukuleles, some horns and strings too…it’s great! (Oh, and some whistling, too!)
“5 Years Time” might be happiest song in the history of songs. Check it out on their myspace.

Elliott Brood – Mountain Meadows
myspace.com/elliottbrood
A Canadian folk-rocker. Not much I can say, comparable to The Avett Brothers or Langhorne Slim to a degree. If you like either of those two, you’d probably enjoy him.
