One time through the Mountain Goats and I can already tell it's going to be a front-runner for 2008.

More than I can say for Magnetic Fields and British Sea Power.

Aren't there any girls out their who like good music? I need to and want to meet them. My favorite bands are Overkill River, The Nife, Songs:Ohio, and Nuetral Milk Hotel. Please let me know if your into indy music and like to go to show's and drink beer's and makeout.

I agree with you on all three albums, Chamberk.

Also, Samamidon's All Is Well is great. It reminds me quite a bit of Bon Iver, but more lush.

The Magnetic Fields has grown on me. Merritt is such a good song-writer that, even through all the distortion, the brilliant song-writing comes through.

If we are putting Samamidon "All is Well" in 2008 can I put it on both my 2007 and 2008 best of lists? Because it is a truly amazing album.

And yes The Mountain Goats are awesome and will probably be in at least my top 10 of 2008.

Gave British Sea Power another listen. Just isn't doing it for me any more... off the iPod it goes.

I'm making a conscious effort to listen to less music in 2008. So I'm going to go after only the albums I'm anticipating, and albums that I hear talked up a great deal here.

Heh, I heard over 100 albums with 2007 release dates, and I'm hoping to bump that number up this year.

Hmmm, in 2006 I think I listened to about 2 2006 albums (what the hell was I doing back then?), in 2007 I listened to about 40 or so 2007 albums, and a number more from previous years. In 2008 I think I'm aiming for a Dork level of albums Razzer

Good to hear the good word about the Mountain Goats, can't wait.

Heard a great song by yet another talented Swede (nationality not vegetable) the other day, name of Ida Maria. Can't remember the song's title but her voice reminded me of a Bjork with bite. Could be one to keep an eye on.

Honestly, I just couldn't give each album I heard in 2007 the attention it deserved. This time I'm going to try and absorb the albums like a good music listener should. Razzer

Tyler Ramsey, British Sea Power, Beach House, Magnetic Fields, Black Mountain, Mountain Goats, too much...........!

I actually sort of agree with Chamberk. Metacritic is so awesome, but almost introduces me to TOO MUCH new music at such a quick rate. I hardly have time to digest great new music before I'm rushing off to get the latest greatest release. I stayed on top of the game throughout 2007, but the result was little time listening to albums from 06 or 05. And add to that the leaked albums which come out even sooner than expected, and my mind is spinning! Guess I can't complain. Razzer

Finally gave the Tyler Ramsey album. Do all the guys in this band sound like Neil Young when they sing? Seriously, this is like a lost Neil Young record here... with a nice Nico cover.

I'll have to give it and Magnetic Fields a few more spins, but yeah, not bad.

I think Tyler actually plays most of, if not all of, the instruments on the album. He is an extremely talented multi-instrumentalist and vocalist. He certainly does have the Young vibe. I discover a new moment that I love with every spin of this record.

170 albums in 2007...But, really, just because I HAVE a lot doesn't mean I listen to all of them. I'll listen to each album maybe twice and then if it hasn't grabbed me it usually falls into obscurity unless a review or Metacritter sings its praises once more.

Wait, what's everyone's problem with the British Sea Power album?

I think it's amazing. Probably their best.

Well, for me the BSP album is overlong and only has a few interesting moments. I've listened to it several times and it has never hooked me enough to warrant more and more listens like the Mountain Goats have.

You say "finally" and I say it hasn't even come out yet. This is the part where I get all confused when I try to "check out" Magentic Fields, Mountain Goats, and others because y'all are talking about leaks. Ahhhh

Haven't listened to the Goats disc yet, still, BSP is one of my favorites so far. Eh, to each their own.
