I've never been a fan of Band of Horses, but this does sound good.

It is very different from Band of Horses, if you like John Fahey you will like his guitar style. Some songs are just instrumentals, but Tyler is an excellent guitarist and they give the album balance. The track "Once In Your Lifetime" has been the album highlight for me.

They're back! I love that whole Pink/Black Mountain collective. Alright...

Oh, could I feel as I have felt, or be what I have been,
Or weep as I could once have wept, o'er many a vanished scene;
As springs in deserts found seem sweet, all brackish though they be,
So, midst the withered waste of life, those tears would flow to me.

Actually I really do like Black Mountain's new release even though I thought their last one was pretty boring.

Other than that, I haven't heard anything from 08.

Yep, my first '08 listen so far, and I like it as well.

Also listened to the new Magnetic Fields a few times, good not great, but their albums are always slow growers for me.

What about the voice of Geddy Lee? How did he get so high?

My first listen was the new Magnetic Fields, I like it, but it's no Holiday. I still wanna listen to the new Beach House but I cant find it online anywhere. I haven't even listened to their first album. I also havent heard Black Mountain, but they sound like a metal band... kinda scares me... lol.

I'm so jealous so many of you have been able to listen to the new Magnetic Fields already. January 15th seems like a long ways off.

I love Samamidon. I put "All is Well" on my top albums of 2007 list because I had it for about a month and a half before I did my list. It's a massive improvement over anything else he has ever done.

I thought this was a 2007 release...

Anyhow, what does it sound like?

It's a traditional folk record with strings. The vocals are whispery and he sings a lot in a qasi-falsetto. His voice is very unique. I think you would like it L.R. but make sure you pick up "All is Well" and not "But This Chicken Proved Falsehearted" because I found that album to be quite weak.

Picked up Tyler Ramsay and British Sea Power. Neither sounds particularly interesting, but it's only been a couple listens so far, so we'll see.

Huzzah it finally leaked! To the internets!

Edit: Wow! This is absolutely amazing, some of the best Mountain Goats tunes ever. A nice return to form after the disappointing "Get Lonely".
