I'm excited about a new Walkmen album. I think they are a very talented and strong band that is continueing to progress their sound in new and different directions.

Jesus, there are six pages here already? I'm not going to slog through them all to see if anyone has mentioned Kelley Stoltz, Circular Sounds, which comes out February 5th!

Yeah, Man Man should be awesome. They have yet to reach their peak album. They are in the possition Okkervil River was after releasing Down the River of Golden Dreams. Increasing the quality of their output with every release exponetially with no sign of slowing. It's very possible they could release the best album of the year if they continue to move away from just being a gimmicky mad-house band.

A Skylit Drive for now. That's the only band I've really heard of that's been in the studio. Well this of course, is metalcore to let you all know..lol

Clark's Turning Dragon comes out next month. I read it on the Warp site and I felt giddy afterward, I loved Body Riddle so much. I'm hoping it will be at least as good.
Sorry... that was more in hope rather than based on any concrete information. There must be a decent chance though, right? Dog Problems was 18 months ago now...

The new British Sea Power leaked today. Immense, epic, grand. This album is one hell of way to start off 2008. Maybe it will be indicative of the year's quality as 2007 will be hard to top.
Alright, so, the new Beach House sounds good but it's going to be a grower.
The new Magnetic Fields is great.. it's the exact opposite of "I" (which I love), I love when artists are able to pull off taking a completely new direction.
I just grabbed the new Papoose album which, oddly, I'm pretty psyched about.
The new Hotchip has leaked but it seems that the promo copies have dubs over the tracks, which I won't o.. so I'm just gonna wait.

I love, love, loved their debut, which I bought on a whim the day it was released because it was 7 quid and looked intriguing. I then bought two copies for other people as presents and badgered another half dozen into buying it. Never really felt the same way about the follow up, despite the acclaim. Hopefully this rekindles my love.

Apparently Ben Folds started writing stuff for a new album in fall of this year. I don't know how popular he is around here, but "Rockin the Suburbs" is a superb album... "Songs for Silverman" wasn't my favorite of his works, but I'd be very happy to hear something new from him.
------ Aren't there any girls out their who like good music? I need to and want to meet them. My favorite bands are Overkill River, The Nife, Songs:Ohio, and Nuetral Milk Hotel. Please let me know if your into indy music and like to go to show's and drink beer's and makeout.

I love Ben Folds. I'm the same as you in respect of Rockin The Suburbs and Songs For Silverman, but any new stuff from Ben is worthy of anticipation in my book.
I'm also chuffed to read in this month's The Word magazine that one of my all time favourite groups, Teenage Fanclub, are releasing a new album in 2008. They can do no wrong in my eyes/ears and I literally can not wait for new stuff from them. I also read they're playing a one off gig in Glasgow in January, so I'm off to seek out some tickets this very minute.
EDIT: Yes! I got 3 tickets. That has made my day, and made a couple of mates very happy.
I'm looking forward to the debut album by Grand Archives, Mat Brooke's band, formerly of Carissa's Wierd and Band of Horses. The demos on their myspace sound like a logical extension between his two former bands.

Also, Sera Cahoone, another former BoH and Carissa's Wierd member has a great self-released, self-titled solo CD that's getting put out by Sub Pop at some point this year, probably. (EDIT: her space says March 18th 2008)
She's got some really killer songs and she's a killer drummer. That big, sweet drum part at the end of "The Great Salt Lake"? All her.

How is it a new direction? I can't wait for a new M'Fields album!!!!
I still find the stuff he does under the MF name is the best. I can't really imagine listening to the Gothic Archies toooooooo many times again, though it has its pleasures.
