I hope you're just referring to commercial metal because if you're not then I am sad Frowner

I think he's referring to that kind of tuned-down, heavy percussion, growling vocals thing that reared its ugly head a few years back. He's not talking about metal in general, I don't think.

I had a stick of CareFree gum, but it didn't work. I felt pretty good while I was blowing that bubble, but as soon as the gum lost its flavor I was back to pondering my mortality.

I was serious about the Slipknot record... I don't know why they are so appalling but most of my friends like them so I just try to bear it and end up liking them
And Alanis Morisette is great still.. Believe me, this is easily one of the top 20 most anticipated releases this year.

Also, Nas' N*gger and Three Six Mafia in the hip hop world.

"That Lucky Old Sun," Brian Wilson.

And yet, I can't help but get excited about a new Deftones record.

Huh. New Okkervil River in September.

I like it when good songwriters are prolific!

I agree. I wish they had just released a double album though. My brain is already trying to persuade me that this is just a sound business move with an attached artistic sacrifice.

Oh well. I'm sure it will be great. And it gives me something to be excited about come September.

I just read that The Spinto Band are releaseing a follow up to Nice and Nicely Done this year sometime called Moonwink or something. I don't know if they were noticed around here in 2005 but that is one of the funnest debut albums I've heard.

I'm almost certain there has been no J. Tillman leak, but he's had something like 8 different songs from the album streaming on his MySpace page at one time or another. There are 6 tracks streaming there right now.

They were certainly recognised here. This news therefore fills me with glee.

I just saw a teaser clip for the new Cold War Kids album due out in September, and it sounds pretty great. From the 30 second sample song it sounds like they are mining the same waters as last time, but last time was an awesome stomping rocker, so I'm really excited about this one.
