I'm going to try to move the posts from the Anticipated 2007 thread over here. Be patient. However, you can post all your thoughts on this subject here from now on.

it will definitely be interesting to see if portishead can pull off another stunner...
i actually wish they would collaborate with Lee Harris, who played drums on Beth Gibbons' solo album. he was Talk Talk's drummer, and plays some of my favorite beats ever on Laughing Stock. if they teamed up to make a four tet/steve reid-type electro-drum collaboration, it would be the best news ever.
either way, new portishead will be nice.

I really hope My Morning Jacket puts out a new one in 08. For some reason I think it could be their best yet, if they keep heading in the direction that Z pointed them.
Sufjan, if he comes out with another album proper, will probably kick some ass. You know, in a sweet and saccharine Christian way.
The new Of Montreal project sounds very interesting. Only problem is we'll have to wait until October to see if it's a success or just a mess.
I'd like new albums from The Wrens, The Postal Service, and Portishead, but... well, I'm not getting my hopes up.
Honestly, almost all the bands I like and follow these days put out an album in 07. That leaves the slate wide open for 08 to step up and showcase some new talent.
------ Aren't there any girls out their who like good music? I need to and want to meet them. My favorite bands are Overkill River, The Nife, Songs:Ohio, and Nuetral Milk Hotel. Please let me know if your into indy music and like to go to show's and drink beer's and makeout.

Oh, Death Cab is coming out with a new one in 08. I'm actually more interested in the guitarist, Chris Walla's solo project. He's produced a lot of good records recently (Crane Wife comes to mind) and I'd like to see what he can do on his lonesome without the Teenage Girl Lyrics Factory (Gibbard).

I mentioned somewhere else, I don't remember where, but my list is:
Sufjan Stevens Wolf Parade The Wrens
If those were the only three albums released next year I would be more than happy.
I'll be happy if any of the three actually release one though. Wolf Parade is probably the most likely candidate as they have been playing new songs live already. But I know Sufjan is up to something. I can feel it.
The Wrens have too much real life to contend with. I feel like sending them a few hundred dollars so they can all get babysitters for the evening and jam out for a while.

Islands! What do we know about the new release!? They were one of the favs of 2006, and I just like the album more and more. God I hope they don't f*** it up!

I'm really looking forward to second albums from the Postal Service and My Latest Novel--if they are forthcoming. During the summer I read somewhere that the Postal Service had 8 tracks so far, and about a month ago I read on My Latest Novel's blog that they had finished 6 songs and had "bits" of 3 or 4 more.
Goldfrapp and El Perro del Mar have definite plans for albums in early 2008 and I'm anxious to hear those, as well.

Mark started the other thread with the proper title after this one was already started. He's working on combining the two, but he hasn't figured out how to do it yet. I'm not sure why he didn't just rename this thread instead of starting a new one, but I'm sure he has his reasons.

I'm a bigger fan of the Tweedy and Cat Power covers. After hearing Chan Marshall's take on "Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again" I might actually have to give her some ear time.
Tweedy sounds good here. So does the violin.
