I thought the first movie was decent. I didn't expect to like it, but really found it to be a solid comic book movie.
From what I can discern from the trailer, it looks as though the sequel has potential to really explore the characters and move this series in a very positive direction while maintaining the action--think Empire Strikes Back.
What do you think? I've read at other places in the forum that people think this is not going to be that great. Why's that. What looks bad about it...other than the CGI Spider-Man swinging through NYC?

Well, that's exactly it. I thought the CGI animation in the first one was horrible... and coupled with the lack of an interesting or compelling story, that really made the first movie a huge disappointment in my book. I'm willing to put up with a fair amount of junk in the script if the movie at least is exciting and cool to look at... but that trailer already scares me, because it looks like they haven't fixed their CGI problems.
Nothing about the first one was memorable. I guess I compare every big budget, cgi-heavy movie to the original Matrix, and Spidey 1 suffers horribly in comparison. I'm sure I'll see Spidey 2 just to be culturally literate, but no, I'm not so amped for it.

I hated the first one and have no desire to see the next one. Of course, I also never liked the Spiderman comic books. I was offended by them and thought they were sexist when I was 12 and didn't even really know the concept of sexism existed yet.
The only comic book movies so far that I have really loved have been the X-men movies, and I liked the second Batman, but that was mostly because I wanted to be Catwoman.
I liked the first movie, thought it was a good starter for a franchise, similar to the first X-Men movie. I am looking forward to the sequel and I think it will be much better. Personally I think all of the Matrix movies were shit! The first one has some merit but is still an obvious, overly metaphorical mish-mash of other people's science fiction/religious work and was only groundbreaking for people who don't read books. It also stars the worst actor in the history of acting! The first Spider-Man was made to stand the test of time and I think it will hold up a lot better than any work done by the talentless Wachowski brothers.

I really want to see it. I loved the first one. I saw Shrek 2 yesterday, and while it was great, I maintain that the Spider-man 2 trailer was the best part.
I reserve the right to be entirely wrong.

I hate the fist one, but I must admit, the trailers for the second one look pretty damn cool. I really think this is gonna be a pretty entertaining movie.
By the way, I hate that guy who plays Willem Defoe's son. Damn him to hell. Him and Haden Christensen.

just seen this one about an hour ago and i think it is a well crafted film. in fact the special effects and the action scenes seemed to be on the background, and the concerns of Peter Parker was the main focus. i like its certain feel of intimacy.

I don't see how 2 is that much different from the first one.....and I found the first one, on the whole, rather boring and contrived. This franchise takes itself way to seriously, and should take a leaf out of "Hellboy"s playbook, and mellow out a little.

i kinda agree...it was like the first one, just with a different villin...however, the graphics did get better and they were able to do more because of that!
