I seriously don't think that there would any marvel movie that would suit those who think that "Spiderman 2" was boring. And I dont feel that it's overrated at all, I mean, look at HP3 - now that's egregiously overrated. Some people claim that Cuaron had "re-invented" the material; oh he sure had, but I get no kick from all that adolescent angst that we've seen too many times before. But this is different in SP2, which has a firmer storyline and better pacing (look at how uneven this is in HP3, esp the ending); in short it beats Hp3 at all levels....so why does it get the same score of 80?

I didn't think it was that bad but it did get a little boring at some of the romance parts! More Action and less romance!!! 7 out of 10

And you're defending Spider-Man 2, perhaps the most adolescent angst-packed movie in years? Please elaborate.
Best wishes, ~V

Slightly overrated. But still a pretty kick ass film! The romance is sometimes a bit too much and seems a bit out of place in between the brilliant action sequences. Also, not enough Doc Ock and too much Aunt May!!!!!

I agree that one of the biggest reasons it is overrated is probably because it was the most hyped movie in recent memory. Also, some really sappy parts just happened to be in the middle of action scenes, which irked me.
I reserve the right to be entirely wrong.

As a person who really really liked the conversation-laden "Hulk" more than the action pakcked fun-fest that was "X2" I have to say that I ADORED "Spiderman 2"!! I came into theatre expecting a decent popcorn film I came out an ecstatic fan boy instructing people in the ticket line to possibly consider "Spiderman 2" (I did this with "F 9/11" too). Since Im an agsty teenager I was literally controlled by Sam Raimi into feeling anger, happiness, sadness at precise moments. This has never happened to me in a comic book movie and that was probably a factor in my hyped up joy. I truly thought it was the perfect summer movie-------and the movie to beat for 2004 (I havent seen "Eternal Sunshine"). So, no, I dont think Spiderman 2 is over rated, but I can definately see how someone wouldnt have the same reaction that I did.

Please kill this topic somebody. Spiderman2 does not deserve to be anywhere near the Worst of 2004 section. Some chump with two posts, both about Spiderman2 and how he didn't like it, started this and then disappeared. Kill it now, unless Garmonbozo shows up to reply to his thread within the week. Perhaps newcomers should have to reply a few times before being allowed to post, so we can avoid crap like this filling up the forum in the future.

I can look into moving it to the "Spider-Man" series section, but there's some legit discussion going on here that shouldn't just vanish. Most of the thread seems to be positive about Spidey. What do you think, S?

I posted my feelings about the film under the How Was Spiderman 2? thread. Garmonbozo, oh wait Garmonbozia, would have done the same thing if he actually intended on debating the merits of the film. That is why I feel this topic is redundant and considering we have an entire Spider Man series section on the forum, should be removed from the Worst of 2004 area.
