Don't know don't care. I don't see why there is so much hype for an average comic book movie.

I'm not sure if what follows could be counted as spoilers or not, I'm just going by what I know from the comics. I do mention the end of the first 2 movies & let you know more about the comic history of the villains. The last paragragh contains what some may consider spoilers IF the third movie goes by the comic to a T. How often does that happen, though?

Well, seeing how it's now only a couple of months away, I guess others might want to discuss it now. You weren't the only one excited to discuss the third right after 2 was over, Kraftdeluxe, it was on my mind, too. I was eager to see Doc Connors become the Lizard & Harry Osborne become the Green Goblin. Also, on my mind was the fact that Venom just might be involved. When I had seen J.J. Jameson's astronaut son come down the stairs with M.J. I just knew Venom was around the corner. Just not this soon!

In the cartoon they had J.J.'s son accidently bring back a piece of the symbiotic alien from a space trip & Peter just woke up with it on. After seeing the trailer, I now see that this is the direction the movie is going to go. I never expected to see Sandman, though. I'm VERY excited to see him in action.

Only one thing troubles me about him: From the last trailer I had seen, it looks like they're going to make Sandman the criminal that murdered Uncle Ben. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!!!!! What a load of crap! The robber fell out of he window & was killed. This isn't even the same actor that played him, nor, is this true in the comic! Who knows. Maybe this guy will end up being the reason the robber robbed the arena. I hope they go in that direction, that would at least make SOME sense.

They just better not kill Sandman the way they did Dr. Octopus. That pissed me off! Doc Ock never suddenly turned good & he certainly was never killed in the comics. Sandman does eventually become a good guy & no, it's not right before he dies. Green Goblin died exactly the way he died in the comic, except it was Gwen Stacy who was in trouble, not Mary Jane.

Now, I hear Gwen will be in 3 & that seems dumb to me since in the comics Gwen was who Peter was in love with first. I don't know how this is gonna play. I just hope that they also have Gwen's father in it, too. In the comic he's a cop & is accidently killed while Spidey is fighting a villain. Gwen hates Spider-Man for this & Peter actually feels responsible. Very moving.

Sure, I might offend a few of the blue-noses with my cocky stride and musky odor - oh, I'll never be the darling of the so-called 'City Fathers' who cluck their tongues, stroke their beards, and talk about what's to be done with this Monkey_Boy?!"

Uhm, there were several notable errors in your post . . .

Umh yeah he did. Try reading some early issues of Amazing Spiderman circa 100 - 200. There was a story line involving Doc Ock secretly building a nuclear power plant while trying to court Aunt May. When Hammerhead shows up to get revenge on Ock for an earlier slight, the ensuing battle damages the reactor and a meltdown is imminent. Ock gets spidey to save Aunt May while he make a last ditch attempt to stop the melt down. Ock fails and the reactor explodes, seemingly killing Ock (in fact it is a whole lot of issues later before it is revealed that Ock actually survived)

quote:
Green Goblin died exactly the way he died in the comic, except it was Gwen Stacy who was in trouble, not Mary Jane.

There were many similarties between Green Goblin's "death" (revoked 300+ issues later) in the comics and in the movie, but it was not nearly as similar as those who have never read said issues seem to beleive.

I find it amusing and annoying when people claim that Gwen was his first love, clearly Betty Brant was. (and just like Gwen a hundred issues later, the big problem in their relationship was that she hated Spiderman and Peter didn't know how to handle it) And while Peter was definately in love with Gwen before MJ, he did date MJ first. (I think, memory's a bit fuzzy on the timing of that one)

In any event, the MJ of the movies is really an amalgamation of several characters including Gwen. So what this means for the movie Gwen, who knows. From the trailers it looks like the alien costume wants him to be with Gwen instead of MJ, creating a very odd love triangle.

As for Captain Stacy, though I loved him in the comics, I don't think they could do him justice having left him out for the first two films. One of my all time favorite moments in Spiderman comics is shortly after Captain Stacy died, when Spiderman realises that Captain Stacy knew that Peter Parker is Spiderman.

If you really are intersted in Spiderman, I highly recommend buying the cd collection Marvel has which includes pdfs of the first 500 issues of Amazing. No better way to seperate fact (or should I say fiction) from heresay.

I remember that story, however, just as you said, he didn't actually die.

When I said Green Goblin died the way he did in the comic, I meant by being impaled by his own glider. That's all. I know the movie didn't go exactly by the comic but, at least they didn't have Spider-Man do it.

If you read my post a little closer, you will find I didn't say Gwen was his first love. I was saying Gwen was Peter's girlfriend before Mary Jane was. I believe you're right on them dating before Gwen. Mary Jane was a blind date set up by Aunt May. I think they dated a little while, until they finally decided to be friends.

Yes, mine as well. As I said very moving. They even reproduced that moment in 'Marvels'#4 from the photogragher's point of view. In the new extended trailer for "Spider-Man 3", there is a very quick glimpse of Peter dancing with Gwen & the policeman behind the desk telling Peter & Aunt May about Sandman *ugh* being Uncle Ben's REAL killer seems to be Captain Stacy. The reason I believe this to be him is because the officer is played by James Cromwell & I doubt they would give him a small throw-away roll.

It's great actually speaking with another comic fan! Nice to meet you Garetmar! Why not come over to my Comic Based Movie thread in the Action/Adventure catagory & we can continue our conversation there on many more comic VS movie changes!

From what the trailer shows Spiderman 3 looks like it might be better than the previous two Spiderman films.

It better be. I would hate for the "Blade" Curse to repeat itself. The first was good, the second was better, & the third sucked monkey butt!

I'm still nervous about how this whole "Sandman is Uncle Ben's actual killer" crap is gonna pan out. ARRRRGH! Why do they gotta do that?!

I hope so too. I really thought the second one was great. I just hope that it is really worth it to have three "bad guys" in one movie. The second one only had one and it was great. It seems like Sandman is going to die within the first half hour or something. I just hope that it is great and better than the last X Men film.

I dunno... Seems to me they'll be takin' Green Goblin out sooner than Sandman, but I guess we'll find out soon enough! Wink

What the ????

Oh, could I feel as I have felt, or be what I have been,
Or weep as I could once have wept, o'er many a vanished scene;
As springs in deserts found seem sweet, all brackish though they be,
So, midst the withered waste of life, those tears would flow to me.

I talked about this in Comic-Based Movies, but for those who hadn't visited it: Harry WILL NOT be considered the Green Goblin or even the Hobgoblin. Raimi has decided to create an all new character out of him, which is why he looks like a flying snowboarder instead of a goblin. There isn't any word on if the character will even have a name in the movie. Yeah, I know, sounds very stupid, huh? So, there are 2 things that are going to deeply disturb me during this movie!
1. Sandman is Uncle Ben's ACTUAL killer!
2.Harry isn't going to be the Green Goblin, but someone else entirely!

The movie has already premiered in China, & it had rave reviews! It is said to be the BEST of the series yet! There are plans for six, but the last three may not have Raimi directing, or even Maguire & Dunst. The actors will only do the 4th movie if Raimi directs, however, Raimi has been offered the chance to direct "The Hobbit". No word on who will replace him or the actors.

Because Aunt May told him to. He was thinking of Gwen the entire date.

UH-OH! This seems to be the worst of the Spidey flicks! At least, according to the critics here at Metacritic. However, the "Users" have given it a 9 so far. Guess we'll see for ourselves come Friday, won't we?
