I would just like to give some special recognition to Sufjan's record lable "Asthmatic Kitty".
They made a special post on their front page linking to a completely different record label encouraging people to donate to a band that got in a tragic car accident. Also, they did a review of the old Frank Capra and Jimmy Stewart movie "You can't take it with you" which is cute and wholesome.
I think this shows good character and fellowship in a sometimes backbiting industry.

I really pretty much despise everything I've heard from this label except for Sufjan's stuff.

I wouldn't say "despise", but nothing has caught and held my interest. But, I most definitely will keep listening to Asthmatic artists simply because I think it's a good record label.

I'm a lot more into the bands on their label now than I was in 2007 apparently. Two albums inparticular are standouts this year:
DM Stith - Heavy Ghost Fol Chen - Part I: John Shade, Your Fortune's Made
Both are great albums and very promising bands.
But not only that! Asthmatic Kitty is doing the ABCs of record labels, where they showcase a record label for every letter of the alphabet and they started with Anticon! Awesome. Just one step closer to realizing my dream of a collaboration between Sufjan and Doseone.

Really? I thought My Brightest Diamond's Bring Me The Workhorse was an excellent album of its kind. Or at least, not one people would despise. But, yeah, a few of the artists on their roster (OK, more than a few) haven't really impressed me either; because of the Sufjan factor, I've given almost every Asthmatic Kitty artist a spin.

Yeah, "despise" was far too strong a word. My Brightest Diamond wasn't too bad, though I didn't really want to listen to it more than about twice. Castanets aren't too bad either. There are a lot of things to like about Asthmatic Kitty really. I love their website, the posters they sell, the album packaging, their extreme indie-ness. All-in-all, I like these guys...just not the music so much.
