I've only heard a couple artists from this label, but it seems like their artists play the kind of electronic music I dig. So has anybody heard a lot of stuff from this label? I'm wondering which artists are the best. I've already heard both of Ulrich Schnauss's albums, but not much else from City Centre.

No hurry. I've just gone through a bunch of crap on my own lately, and haven't had much luck finding anything good.

I kinda liked Ulrich Schnauss, but I wasn't crazy about him. When I first heard it, I really liked Yasume's album, Where We're From Pretty Birds Sing A Song, but I've kind of grown sick of it. All the songs sound almost exactly the same. I also think there was a band called Arovane that's on the label, and I thought their album was decent, but not great.

I think a long time ago I said something in the electronic forum about Yasume, describing it as ambient washes over skittering beats, and you told me that that could describe a lot of City Centre artists. I like some of that kind of music, so that's why I figured I'd ask you what you like best from City Centre.

As far as other electronic music, aside from the electronic/rock fusion groups--several of which I really, really like(Knife, Ms John Soda, Junior Boys, Notwist, Lali Puna)--my six favorites are probably Boards of Canada, M83, Four Tet, Caribou, Out Hud, and Christ. I like me some Two Lone Swordsmen and Mum as well.

I read somewhere that Christ has a new one coming out this year, so I'm pumped for that as well as the Junior Boys new one.

Oh, and I also checked out that Boxcutter album you said you really liked in the 2006 thread. The jury's still out on that one. I've only listened to it once and it definitely sounded like it could be something I could like, but I'll have to listen to it again sometime soon to see how it holds up.

And I probably should mention that I'm not a big fan of highly experimental electronic bands like Fennesz or Keith Fullerton Whitman.

yeah neither am i, just a little.most of the time it just sounds like senseless noodling.

oh yeah, that boxcutter album is quite good.give it time, it will grow on you.
another one u should check is the new burial album out on hyperdub.

ummm...heres a link

trust me, check this album.
you will thank me later.

ha ha...i totally got 'con fooz ed' i always seem to mix up city centre and morr, for whatever reason.I do like some city centres stuff, i dont have alot of it...i do have all the early 7 inchers though.

i dont know if its just me, but i find it really hard to remember names, whenever someone asks me for reccos or new albums its like i get a massive brain fart, maybe i should slow down the purchases and downloads.

anyways, sorry i cant really help with much city centre stuff, the stuff i like is the obvious stuff...like...

dub tractor
cyne **prolly top 5 rap albums ever for me**
swod
ulrich schnauss

if you are really inclined or are cool with soulseek or whatever, try and find some of the early block ep's...for me they are much better, more interesting.

check there back cat, especially the first say 10-15 releases are worth checking out.
