Myabe one of the moderators could move a coupleposts in the electronic music section here that are pretty much just about specific labels. The Ninja Tune one and the merck one?

Maybe...i guess it would work since this is the new record labels thread.

Merge takes the #1 slot. Arcade Fire, Spoon, Neutral Milk Hotel, Magnetic Fields, M. Ward, Crooked Fingers, Superchunk, Dinosaur Jr., Lou Barlow, ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead, etc., etc.

What about Saddle Creek? They've got Bright Eyes, Cursive, the Faint, Tilly and the Wall...

It's definitely one of my favorites.

Hydrahead (Isis, Cave In, Neurosis and loads of great splits) and Peaceville (My Dying Bride, Katatonia) would definately be up the top for me.
Rhymesayers for hip-hop stuff.

Hmm..you know, I don't even pay attention to the label when I'm getting into an artist, so it's kind of hard for me to say. Merge seems to have a lot of my favorite bands right now.

I thought Kill Rock Stars had Sleater-Kinney and Decemberists, but apparently not Sleater-Kinny anymore, so it loses some stock with me.

S-K moved on to indie juggernaut Sub Pop. Making their already quite large/good lineup better.

I am surprised no one has mentioned Projekt. It is the leader in darkwave and ethereal music. It includes bands such as Black Tape for a Blue Girl, Lycia (they used to be on that label), Mira, Unto Ashes (pretty neofolk sounding), Voltaire, Audra, Steve Roach, Love Spirals Downwards, etc.. its a great, very pretty label. Also, Metropolis is great. It has VNV Nation, Assemblage 23, it has released albums from Peter Murphy and Bauhaus, Faith and the Muse, Die Form, Bella Morte. Dancing Ferret Discs also is great. It includes Cruxshadows, Endanger and many more. I would also nominate Epitaph and Anti. THey have Sage Francis, Eyedea, Tom Waits, Bad Religion, etc.. good stuff!

I'm a big fan of Weewerk - they're a small Canadian label that's put out both Great Lake Swimmers and Elliott Brood.

I really don't buy or try music based on label, but Domino is one label that has a lot of bands I really like, including:

Adem
Four Tet
Magnetic Fields
Smog

Domino is probably second only to Sub Pop in the number of artist I listen to.

I second the Domino listing they definitely put out some great music. Also it is without question that Merge and Subpop are locked in battle for the best overall lineup in the US right now.

Some others that rule are:
thirsty ear (jazz, electronica, indie rap)
Constellation (post rock)
Leaf (UK electronica)
12K/Line (Microsonic/Glitch/Soundsculptures)

That last one is run by Taylor Deupree and Richard Chartier, two of the most interesting musicians in the world today. Anyone into challenging intelligent music should check it out at http://www.12k.com

I don't really pay attention too much to labels. But coincidentally, most of my stuff is from Arts & Crafts, Island (Nick Drake & PJ Harvey, woot!), Matador (Interpol, Cat Power) and Sub Pop.
