Art-punk, Cleveland, long running? I'd guess Pere Ubu, but I'm not familiar enough with their recent stuff enough to take a stab at the song.

Don't take it easy by any means, but try to post something you're pretty sure at least one person on here is going to know.

I don't have a clue on this song in particular, but I'm certainly OK with tough ones sometimes. Since I do find this to be a pretty fun game, I think that it's important to keep giving clues to keep the game rolling though(maybe every 24 hours or something). Obviously its pointless to post a quote you don't think anyone has heard of, but with the combined music knowledge of some of the people here, I'm sure in most cases you're in the clear.

Well, I have seen the artist's name mentioned here several times.
I wasn't only directing that at your post, crazed. I'm just afraid that if people try to make it too much of a challenge, everyone will get bored of never knowing the answer. I just hope we don't turn into a "who can come up with the most obscure lyric that no one can identify" contest.

Pere Ubu it is. The other clue was it's from their 2002 album. I thought the album recieved quite a bit of positive attention when released, even though I usually don't pay much attention to critics' ramblings.

No takers, eh? Okay, it's Pere Ubu's "Dark" from St.Arkansas. Guess the next one goes to Maximum Jack for coming the closest.

I'm going to have to pick that album up at some point.

Let's do an easy one:

"Through the storm we reach the shore
You give it all but I want more
And I'm waiting for you"

U2 - "With or Without You"

and next, lets do perhaps the lamest lyric ever penned:

"What's so civil about war anyway?"

Guns 'N Roses "Civil War" right? It is a pretty lame line, but maybe not as lame as this one (an easy one):

"Mirror Mirror on the wall.
"Show me where the bombs will fall."

Atrocious.

Sounds almost like a rap lyric to me, but I could be way off. I have no clue what it is, honestly. Sounds like something Zappa would say, too.

I think we're going to need a clue to keep the ball rolling on this one.

"Koala Sprint"-- Midnight Oil (didn't need the hint, but thanks-- I just posted a Midnight Oil Song over on Tag!)

Let's see. . . how 'bout:

"Never mind the stars and stripes
Let's print the Waterfate Tapes
I'll salute the New Wave
And I hope nobody escapes"

Those are from "I'm So Bored With The U.S.A." by the Clash

How about this:

Stonecutters made them from stones
Chosen specially for you and I
Who will live inside
The mountaineers gathered tender
Piled high
In which to take along.
Driving many miles, knowing they'd get here.
