I like the easy ones. Those are the only ones I can get too. Otherwise, some of the people around here are waaaayyyy out of my league(MJ, I'm looking in your direction Cool). It's almost as bad as those punks over in the "Guess the Book" thread.

One of the main reasons this thread died in its first incarnation is because people were posting lyrics that no one around here knew. The goal is to be challenging, not impossible. I like the idea of making people think, but it's no fun when the thread sits for two weeks because no one can recognize the lyrics. Dropping hints at least keeps the thing rolling.

"A Change is Gonna Come" by Sam Cooke

"Oh well I don't mind, if you don't mind
'Cause I don't shine if you don't shine
Before you jump... "

Ah, "A Whiter Shade of Pale" by Procul Harum. Love that song.

"Feathers hit the ground before the weight can leave the air."

And another great song:
Fall on Me by R.E.M.

Here's one from an underrated hard rock band:

We want a band that plays loud and hard every night that doesn't care how many people are counted at the door

That's Reinventing Axl Rose by Against Me!

Here one from a great band:
"And why leave her on her own? If I had known then I wouldn't have said it. I wouldn't have said it if I would have known."

“If You Were There, Beware” by Arctic Monkeys

An easier one:
“Stop sending letters, letters always get burned.
It’s not like the movies, they fed us on little white lies.”

Great song: Radiohead - Motion Picture Soundtrack

Keeping with a similar theme:

No fade in: film begins on a kid in the big city
And no cut to a costly parade (that’s for him only!)

Yay one I know! "Our Life is Not a Movie or Maybe" by Okkervil River.

I'll also continue the theme:

Lisa's kissing men like a long walk home/When the music stops/Take a tip from me don't go through the park/When you're on your own it's a long walk home

Belle and Sebastian - "If You're Feeling Sinister"

Here's one: "Do you know where I was at your age? Any idea where I was at your age?
I was working downtown for the minimum wage..."

It's from their album If You're Feeling Sinister, but it's from the song "Like Dylan in the Movies." Smiler

Hubby says it's "Christmas at the Zoo" by Flaming Lips. I was kicking myself once he told me because his band covered it last year, and I heard it all day and night for weeks.

6 am day after Christmas, I throw some clothes on in the dark/The smell of cold, car seat is freezing/The world is sleeping and I am numb.
