I'll say that Björk's homogenic is beyond genius and one of my all-time fave albums. I'm not sure that anything else she (or almost anybody else) did compares, but I'll go Genius Plus for that set alone.

I like Björk. I wasn't too keen on Medulla, but overall I'd say her material is pretty freakin' good.

Describing "genius" is like describing pornography. I know it when I see it (or hear it in this case). Nobody makes music like her, and that is truly hard to claim about non-geniuses. And for the record, I'm more of a "Debut"/"Post" fan. I think that's also something that separates geniuses (or great bands in general) from their contemporaries. We can actually argue about which was their best work (ala OK Computer/Kid A/The Bends...).

Oh, before I forget. We should also put up at least 3 out of the 4 Beatles (you know who you are).

Bjork is unique, which is a trait of many geniuses. I'll once again show my age and say that Joni Mitchell is a female musician that has a very large musical brain. Like most special artists, she's focused on creative expression more than selling lots of records.

But I meant George! Not.

Bad joke note: I put in a bunch of spaces between "! and Not" to simulate the Borat joke. I guess the html doesn't let you do that easily.

After taking into account his entire body of work (so far), how about Stephen Malkmus?

There were certainly 4 genius/extremely gifted people working on Beatles albums and Ringo wasn't one of them. George Martin's contribution to the Beatles is immeasurable. If you doubt me, go listen to Strawberry Fields Forever or Sgt. Peppers again.

What did people think of the George Martin and son remix for Circus Soleil??? Genius? I have only heard it twice--more than anything it made me want to listen to Paul's Boutique (which had several Beatles' samples)!

I haven't heard it, and probably won't. The concept doesn't really interest me. However, George Martin could have joined the circus in 1970 and his mark on popular music still couldn't be denied.

The reason for listening to Love is not the concept, although the results are intriguing if you're a fan. The reason is to hear Beatles' songs remastered in a sound quality which will blow your mind, and finally necessitate their entire catalog getting remastered. For that reason, it's a way-cool sneak preview. Cool

I can't believe no one has mentioned the musical genius & colossus, big Frank (Zappa).

So I'll say it again - Frank Zappa. The things he's done with composition / technical playing is genius in my book.
