Violent Femmes - Violent Femmes

The first time I heard the first two tracks it didn't quite click with me, then I heard them again and it did.

It was only $5; too cheap not to buy, really.

Wow, klt. If that's only the first batch, it sounds like your library has a great collection.

Is that Greatest Hits the Evidence collection? If so, it's a good one. For an artist with a varied and complicated a career as Sun Ra, that may be about as close as you're going to get to a career overview. I hope you enjoy it.

Now Playing: "Superman" Benny Goodman V-Disc Recordings

Biggles, Moon Safari is Air very best!!! $5? lucky duck. Talisman is the best track. Air's Talkie Walkie was one of my favorite albums of 2004. You should give that a listen if you haven't already.

Latest CD buys...

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
Sufjan Stevens: Illinois
13&God: s/t
Quasimoto: Further Adventures of Lord Quas
Best of the Talking Heads
Yo La Tengo: Prisoners of Love

Went to check out a used music store today. Ended up being pretty terrible, but I found a couple good albums in their $1 budget bins.

Morrissey - You Are the Quarry
The Clumsy Lovers - Smart Kid

Also got my next set of 5 from the library.

Ted Hawkins - The Kershaw Sessions
McCoy Tyner - Illuminations
Yo La Tengo - And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out
Bo Diddley - His Best
Devo - Pionerrs Who Got Scalped Anthology.

Yes, it is the Evidence G.H. I'm really enjoying it a lot, and don't know why I waited so long to hear him.

Elvis Costello - Imperial Bedroom
Smiths - Queen Is Dead
Bright Eyes - Lifted

The former two are on my 1981-1986 list and the latter was motivated by his amazing performance at the Newport Folk Festival.

Edit: I also just picked up Holopaw - Quit +/Or Fight. I was trying to get Mount Eerie - No Flashlight, but for some reason nobody had it yet.

The best part is that that's $5 Australian: the price of most singles. Seems rather like predatory pricing to me, but maybe I'm just too suspicious

Also, I've heard Talkie Walkie (on loan from a library). It's pretty good.

I scoured the used bins for Fruit Bats' Spelled in Bones, but no luck. Instead I came back with:

Loudon Wainwright III, Unrequited
Pulp, This Is Hardcore
Muddy Waters, The Father of Chicago Blues
Feist, Let It Die
Dungen, Ta Det Lugnt
