This is such a beautiful and dynamic album. I was just listening to it yesterday, and it continues to make me happy.

I bought The Soft Bulletin today. On impulse, actually. Never heard any of it before, just heard non-soft bulletin stuff which I've liked. Unusual, in that I mostly buy stuff after having downloaded it and deciding that it's good. But I saw it sitting there on the shelf, and I remembered that various people reckon it's good, so hey why not? About to listen to it right now. Hope it's good!

I did just about that same thing a few years ago with the same album. I ended up not really liking it all that much. I went on to discover that I didn't really like The Flaming Lips in general.

But that was a while back and things have changed since then. Maybe it's time to give it another shot. How'd you like it?

Hmmm, maybe we should take this conversation to the sacrilege thread? Nawww, every thread should be open to sacrilege IMO. I'll be honest and to the point; I think there are 2 or 3 good songs on here. Overall, I'd say the album is bad. Not good, or even ok, just bad. I'm fairly bewildered by its critical acclaim.

I've heard about half of Yoshimi by the way on the radio and around the place, and I think all of it's several orders of magnitude better than this stuff. I'll have to check out the rest of the album...soon.

So yeah I'm in the same boat as you at the moment. Not quite ready to call myself a Flaming Lips fan.
