These seem to be the big three of the week. I bought these, plus Of Montreal. Funny thing is, what I've been mostly listening to this week is Bitter Tea, by Fiery Furnaces. I bought it when it came out, wasn't crazy about it and put it aside. Now I'm back to it and I think its great!

Ok, so after streaming and liking them very much I went and got:
The Shins- Wincing the Night Away
of Montreal- Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?

I also have The Good, The Bad & The Queen's album, where is the love for that album?

No sorry Hophead, I dont like it. I have listened to it front to back maybe 4 or 5 times now and it doesn't do anything for me. I totally like the other 3 I have mentioned here but this album seems like a disjointed, disjunct (secondary meaning of the word) mess. There are some individual moments in some of the songs that are rather nice but then it all goes away and I just don't like it. Maybe it also has to do with the band's gay pictures that pop in and out on the streaming website too! Big Grin

Edit: Haha, oops, I didn't even ask if I could call you Hoppy, there I changed it. Sorry. Cool

I've just got the new Willy Mason album on promo. It's good, slower pace than his debut, but I'm reserving judgement until I've heard it a few more times.

Today I bought:

James Yorkston And The Athletes - Just Beyond The River (just brilliant)
Sparklehorse - Dreamt For Light Years...
Trojan Selecta Vol. 1 (for £3. I've got Vol 2, so I expect it will be of similar standard)

I also got RZA's "Birth Of A Prince". It's probably his weakest album, but it cost me £1! You can't argue with value like that. I couldn't afford NOT to buy it!

Besides the new Shins and Of Montreal...

I got the debut from the Broken West, I Can't Go On, I'll Go On. This is an immediate power-pop classic with a few touches of Grant Lee Buffalo sprinkled about. Highly recommended.

That's a good one, Mark. I'm enjoying it a good bit. Look for the earlier EP, too, which was credited to The Brokedown.

Just bought CYHSY on iTunes, and listening now. Here's a question. I've noticed that lots of people here buy "older" albums. Maybe a year or two old. I hate buying something older than the year in which it's issued. On the other hand, when my son likes a band, he likes to go back and buy the whole catalog. Am I the weird one here? I hate liking an album only to find that it was released in, say, 2002 or something like that. I also barely listen to anything older than 2002 0r 2003.

Sigur Ros - Aegetis Byrjun...or something like that. Great album.

Talking about CYHSY, the new album seems better than the first one. Can Someone second that?

Yes, I think it's better than their self-titled debut but it gets old quickly.
