I'm in love with Scott Walker right now; The Drift is my favorite album from 2006. So now I have to get all of Scott Walkers music (well not all, just a lot). So my recent purchases are:
Scott Scott 2 Scott 3 Scott 4 Hunter of Climate Tilt
---------------------------------------- "You're half the man Peter Pan could have been"
I don't buy much rock 'n roll anymore, but did pick up the Rolling Stones' EXILE ON MAIN STREET. I don't know if I ever owned the vinyl copy, but back in the seventies I did regularly buy Stones' records. The reason I bought it is that a book came out documenting the making of the album.
Somewhere on these threads I made the new year's resolution to stop buying so many cds. That'll have to wait until mid-year. I buy a couple hundred a year, but I don't think I ever purchased 6 at once. What a great week in new releases!
Shins - Wincing The Night Away Deerhoof - Friend Opportunity The Good, The Bad & The Queen - The Good, The Bad & The Queen Of Montreal - Kissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer? Menomena - Friend And Foe David Kilgour - The Far Now
I actually like it quite a bit. Many people are calling some of the songs dull because they are nice and mellow but I actually like that and the production by Danger Mouse on this is very nice as well.
Do you own the other Roots albums or is that your first buy? I recommend all of them, they are probably my favorite hip-hop/rap act--and they are an actual band!

I have a few more of their albums including Phrenology which I deeply love. I've heard Things Fall Apart before (many times actually) and finally decided to go out and buy it.

Hmm. I just began my assault on 2007 with The Shin's Wincing The Night Away. I generally do not enjoy "indie" rock/pop, so it'll be more of a toss-up for me I'm guessing. I also would have picked up The Good, The Bad and the Queen, but the store I visit didn't have it.
