Fennesz Endless Summer reissue

Plus the cd with Dec 06 ish of Uncut featuring, in their words, the "new psychedelic outlaws". And the cd with the Feb 07 ish of Mojo featuring "15 hand picked tracks of hurt, pain & despair".

I'd only heard a few samples before I picked up the reissue. Reminds me a little of Tim Hecker, maybe more elements of glitch. There are two bonus tracks and different cover artwork over the original. The first listen didn't warm up to me but now on the second play, I am enjoying it more and catching some sounds that didn't soak through earlier.

Excellent comp! If you haven't already, you might want to check out the also marvellous Midwest Funk and Florida Funk, also released on the killer Jazzman label.

Thanks for the tip. I've just been looking at their website. A mate of mine who's heavily into funk put me onto this album. Some of these British labels do fantastic work.

So wait, are you coming at the reissue from the point of view of never having listened to Fennesz? I was under the impression that people compared Tim Hecker to Fennesz and NOT the other way around since Fennesz has been doing his thing far longer and Endless Summer is generally considered the "benchmark" in the genre. I though the question of how it sounds was more directed at the difference between the original version and the new version since the newer one supposedly was newly mixed by Fennesz to have a slightly different and more "open" sound than the version originally released in 2001. Personally I count it among the top five or so records of this decade.

Yep. This weekend was my first expierence hearing Fennesz's Endless Summer (other than samples online). I have heard Tim Hecker albums over the last several months (I believe it was your mention of Harmony in Ultraviolet, jb, that sent me in that direction). So I suppose someone who's heard both the original and reissue is better suited to answer Everyoneanindividual's question.
