Kinks The Ultimate Collection Go Jimmy Go The Girl with the Fishbowl Eyes (ska) V/A Girl Monster (3 cds of female artists/female-led bands such as The Slits, Chicks On Speed, Juliette and the Licks, Bjork and many many more I've never heard of)
Some stuff I've recently acquired or is on the way:
The Exploding Hearts: Shattered and Guitar Romantic The Nice Boys: The Nice Boys January: Motion Sickness Ashley Naylor: The Four Track Mind of Ashley Naylor The Fags: Light 'em Up
I spend way too much money on cd's. It's like music is more important than rent...or food.
Beatles - Love Ghostface - Fishscale Madlib - Shades of Blue (instrumental hip-hop using jazz samples from the Blue Note series) Swan Lake - Beast Moans
Probably the most ill-fitting 4 albums I've ever purchased at once. Regardless, I gots me 4 cd's that were on my looooong list. Yay!
Combines the guitar crunch of Cheap Trick with the catchiness of In Colour. Thanks to those who brought this to the forum's attention. I could do without "Mondo Ragga", a tedious instrumental, but, apart from that, a worthy addition to their catalogue.
that Jimi Hendrix CD I posted about a couple days ago? It has 24 pages of discussion/annotation/remarks/history! I have never seen anything like it. Son House and Robert Johnson are in there, and Albert King and all of the rest of the kinds and princes of the blues. What an awesome project this was.
I s'pose you'd call it cabaret synth-pop (can you tell I don't review albums for a living?). Surprisingly catchy. It's popped up on only 1 or 2 end-of-year lists.
The Capitol Years: Dance Away the Terror Doug Powell: Four Seasons James Cooper: Second Season Minibar: Desert After Rain Autumn Defense: Autumn Defense Brightblack Morning Light: Brightblack Morning Light The Format: Dog Problems John Ralston: Needle Bed
