I watched the final out of the World Series from the main bar at a club, as well. I was seeing Tim O'Reagan and Mojave 3, but I was able to crack a beer with some fellow St Louisans...
Weezer's Green Album. Not exactly a purchase, I borrowed it from the library. I'm enjoying it a lot. Catchy power pop. Then I went hunting for Weezer on this site and discovered that a lot of people think it's a huge disappointment after their first two albums. All I can say is they must be some albums.

You haven't heard Pinkerton of the Blue Album? Let me put it this way, not only does the Green Album run out of steam halfway through, it's generally a completely lacklustre rehash trying to recapture the glory days of the Blue Album. Imagine listening to an album like the Green Album and having guitar solos that actually don't just straight up mimick the main melody of the rest of the song.
Ben Kweller: Sundress ep Manchester Orchestra: Like a Virgin Losing a Child (a really cool Atlanta band with a vaguely Britpop sound) Jay Bennett: The Magnificent Defeat Gob Iron: Death Songs for the Living (Jay Farrar and Anders Parker doing old folk and blues songs)
DOLLAR BIN RAID!!! (It's like a panty raid, but with no panties)
All of these were a buck or less:
Nova Mob: Admiral of the Sea ep Moving Units: Dangerous Dreams (More 'new wave of new wave' post-post-punk stuff, but it's pretty good) Frank Bango: The Unstudied Sea The Boss Martians: The Set Up Ffa Coffi Pwab Am Byth (Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals' early stuff, mostly in Welsh...kinda cool. Sounds like Jesus and Mary Chain singing in gibberish!)

OK, thanks jb, I'll check 'em out. I don't agree that Green runs out of steam half way through, though. To my ears, the second half probably shades the first.

I'd agree that the Blue Album is Weezer's best effort. A lot of people like Pinkerton too, which I think is kind of overrated, but to each his own.
----- People claim I'm possessed by the devil, but mama, I know I'm possessed by your daughter.
I agree with ericg75 about Pinkerton...I know that's the touchstone record, but I don't care for it as much. I'll take the Blue record and the Green record over Pinkerton, personally.

Hey, pE, what's the track listing? I've got "The Last Days of Pompeii". Just wondered if there was anything different on the EP. I'm quite partial to Nova Mob.

I got Gas' Pop a few days ago too. Haven't had a chance to listen to it yet. Been catching up on a few other CD purchases. Have you listened to it? What you think?
I haven't really listened to Pop yet. I've been listening to Konigsforst and although I find the music pretty outstanding, the "techno pulse" of the record detracts from the beautiful time-collapsed Schoenberg string sections.
Green is fun, I'll admit. Pinkerton and Blue, on the other hand, are great.
------ Aren't there any girls out their who like good music? I need to and want to meet them. My favorite bands are Overkill River, The Nife, Songs:Ohio, and Nuetral Milk Hotel. Please let me know if your into indy music and like to go to show's and drink beer's and makeout.

It's got two versions of "Admiral of the Sea" which aren't radically different from each other. It's also got a live cover of "I Just Wanna Make Love to You", a 'single mix' of "Last Days of Pompeii" and an instrumental version of "Getaway in Time."
