Anyone know any up and coming bands that are starting to get popular? I'm not talking about your MGMT's or bands that have already made it.

A few that I can think of:

Hip-Hop/Rap: I'd say B.O.B., who has this Andre 3000 sound to him...check out his song "I'll Be In The Sky"

Rock: Definitely IKOMA, out of Brighton, UK...I saw them play at this Wakestock Music festival, and they killed it. Their music doesn't seem to have been released yet other than myspace: www.myspace.com/ikoma

Also, some may consider them already popular, but I'm really digging Gogol Bordello. If you guys haven't heard of em check out their song, "Wonderlust King."

One band I can think of the doesn't get nearly as much credit as they deserve is The Cat Empire. They're not exactly new but they're still relatively unheard of and they sound unlike anyone else.

Also, I'm somewhat biased by my nationality but check out Liam Finn's (son of Neil from Crowded House/Split Enz) new stuff. It's definitely making waves down this part of the world.
