1. "Johnny Barleycorn" by Frank Black. Probably the hardest rock song on the solid
Fast Man Raider Man album.
2. "Holy Water" by the Gossip. Wonderful bluesy indie pop-rock with soulful female vocals.
3. "Darling We're Out of Time" by Cracker. Probably one of the most beautiful Cracker anthems with a timeless, mighty melody.
4. "Melt Your Heart" by Jenny Lewis with the Watson Twins. My fave from
Rabbit Fur Coat. I guess the theme is simple and beautiful.
5. "Love and Communication" by Cat Power. Another anthem with an awesome arrangement and production. Just enough bluesy and jazzy touches to make its simplicity overpowering.
In case anybody is wondering why this isn't at Random Rules, it's because I can't do Random.
