What are your favourite iconic photos of musicians? I really like some of the photos of Kurt Cobain, John Lennon, and Bob Dylan that are around

Rolling Stone ran a big article about this a few years ago, with classic photographs of musicians. Needless to say, Annie Liebowitz shot like 50% of them, haha.

As for my favorites, I can think of two off the top of my head:

1. The one of Janis Joplin with the bottle of Southern Comfort
2. The cover of Joni Mitchell's Blue

Rolling Stone had one of their photo issues several years back which featured a great page spread of the Pixies. I'd seen it several times before. The band was looking skyward, as if they were singing to the heavens. Early career pic, I believe. Haven't seen it for a few years, couldn't find it online. Wish I still had a copy of that ish.

No doubts about this or this one either.

Also the classic picture of Ian Macaye from the cover of Our Band Could Be Your Life.

I actually forgot about this one for the favorite album covers thread, but it works here too.

Here's one of Bob Marley that I really like.

And a great one of the Trick.

I thought about putting Let It Be up too. Great cover.

Edited to remove the Hendrix shot that was already posted. Who knew it was classic enough to get posted twice? Wink
