I was listening to Pink Floyd's Meddle tonight, and my favorite track from that album, "Fearless", incorporates Rogers and Hammerstein's "You'll Never Walk Alone" being chanted by a crowd.
Also, one of my favorite tracks of 2007, Okkervil River's "John Allyn Smith Sails" features a chorus that uses the melody and a good deal of the lyrics from the traditional Carribean folk song "Sloop John B".
So, my question to you, other Metacritic Forum members, what are some other examples of this?
Oh, and I'm not going for "sampling". That would make it too easy.

It's from a Liverpool match, an English soccer (football) club. They sing it during every match, and Pink Floyd grew up Liverpool fans. The fans actually sing the song fantastically. If your a fan of the song, check out this version. It's excellent, especially the end:
Check out "Oh What A World" by Rufus Wainwright. In it, he incorporates the melody of Ravel's "Bolero" in the orchestral accompaniment to his voice. It's seamless, in good taste, and sounds fantastic with the number.

The Jam totally lifts the guitar "Yeah Yeah Yeah" part of "She Loves You" on "It's Too Bad" from All Mod Cons.

There was a Sunset Rubdown song put up on Daytrotter this morning called "Idiot Heart" where in the middle they play a little part of their own "The Men Are Called Horsemen There."
Sarah Borges incorporates a verse from Looking Glass' "Brandy (You're A Fine Girl)" into her own "Same Old 45" song.
Dread Zeppelin's cover of "Stairway to Heaven" ends with part of a cover of Three Dog Night's "Never Been to Spain".
There's some artist (Woven Hand?) who covers Bill Wither's "Ain't No Sunshine" in their own song, making it sound ultra-spooky. If it's not Woven Hand, I have no idea who it'd be.
I actually just noticed this yesterday: in "Success" off American Gangster, Jay-Z lifts a line from Eminem's "I'm Back" - "I used to give a fuck/now I could give a fuck less/what do I think of success, it sucks/too much press..."

Nice work, EG!! Meddle is an underappreciated album if there ever was one. It's my #2 Floyd, next to Dark Side. I think Fearless is unbelievably great. The whole album is stellar, imo. Thanks for reminding me.
As for other songs...
I know Loose Fur use a verse of Wilco's Heavy Metal Drummer in their tune, Chinese Apple.
"Unlock my body and move myself at last In the warm liquid, flowing glowing glass Classical music, blasting masks are ringing in my ears"
I guess it's still Tweedy both times, but that's what they do.
