I could swear there used to be a thread devoted to movies related to music, but I couldn't find it through search.
Anyways, I posted this on another forum:

I've been seeing a lot of rave reviews of this movie and I don't feel it deserves the praise. Although a great concept and certain parts are breathtaking/funny/tragic/etc., I'm Not There just feels like it's missing a massive piece to help tie the movie together (or at least anything to help tie parts together in ways other than small coincidences and such).
Also, it seems to me that if the director would've stuck to a more raw, straight-forward presentation then it would have boosted the strengths of each of the "vignettes" or w/e.
Essentially, I was really disappointed with the direction because the movie shows a lot of promise when in the right hands.
