"Grace" - Supergrass
"Mary" - Supergrass

One of my friends had sisters called Grace and Mary. I'm ridiculously bad at remembering names. Thanks to Supergrass, remembering their names was never a problem. Supergrass' next album better not consist of a dozen songs named after girls, or I'm in trouble!

There's also a "Gabrielle" by Paul Roland (great psych-folk) and a disco-ish "Gabrielle" by the first band that the Pogue's Shane MacGowan recorded with, the Nipple Erectors.

I've just re-read the question. The best song named after a woman is, without doubt (please don't write in, my decision is final and no late nominations will be accepted) Chuck Berry's "Maybellene", combining the twin obsessions of teenage boys everywhere - girls and cars - with a cracking beat. I can't believe nobody mentioned it.

My equal favourite songs named after women are Joni Mitchell's "Amelia" and this one, whose partial lyrics appear below. Anyone guessing the title of the song can have sex with my next door neighbour. (That reminds me, I'd better mention it to him)

"...movin' through the traffic like a mounted cavalier/leanin' out th' winda, tryna make her hear...[place your answer here]"

I'm pretty sure most of these haven't been mentioned. If they have, your people can talk to my people.

Casiotone For the Painfully Alone - "Roberta C."

Also on the same album (I know they technically don't qualify): "Hey, Eleanor" and "Jeane, If You're Ever In Portland."

Yeah, I've been really busy lately, plus my brother has pretty much monopolized my computer working on scholarship essays. For some reason I'm good at recalling name songs but not much else. And yes, "Roberta C." is awesome, probably my favorite CFTPA song.
