In no order:

The Almighty Defenders "Bow Down and Die"

Chug-a-lug sing-a-long BBQ'd Black Lipped rock-n-roll.

The Beatles "When I Get Home"

Nice, forgotten track from A Hard Day's Night.

Sonic Youth "Creme Brulee"

Hadn't heard this sweet gem in awhile but now it's a nice earworm.

The Krayolas "The Sphinx Won't Tell"

Power pop version of what originally was a Broadway song.

Jessie Evans "To the Sun"

Latin Afro-Caribbean electronic-funk tribute to Sun Ra.

I'm on a huge Beatles kick right now due to the remasters and Rock Band releases, so it's probably accurate to say that my top 5 is all Beatles songs at this very moment. And here are those 5 Beatles songs:

1. Rain
2. Norwegian Wood
3. Long, Long, Long
4. A Day in the Life
5. Happiness is a Warm Gun

I've been focused on mid-late period Beatles. When my currently out of stock via Amazon (but cheap!) stereo box comes in a couple weeks, I'll be going back to the earlier Merseybeat and related stuff and rediscovering the treasures there.

Classic Ween track. Maybe my favorite song of theirs, and I'm a big fan of most of their stuff. What album is that Mogwai song from? I don't remember that title.

Oi Va Voi "Black-Sheep"
- From their '07 s/t album. World music/electronica-pop/great mix of sounds. I need to hunt down their other releases.

Nixon's Head "Yesterday's Party"
- They've been around 25 yrs or more and only released 3 albums. This is from their latest, Enemies List. Modern garage rock that's musically rooted in latter day Nuggets ('69-'71) and maybe the '80s garage rock scene. Great music- extremely catchy, great songwriting and best when the male/female vocals trade-off. Sometimes they get bluesy and in a good way.

Jay Reatard "Wounded"
- Ultra catchy track from his fine new album.

Alice Cooper "Halo of Flies"
- Still a blast all these years later. I love how the song progresses, twists & turns. Sounds fantastic on the remastered Audio Fidelity disc.

Jesse Evans "Black Sand"
- Damn if this gal ain't inchin' her way up my best-of-'09 list. Latin-Afro-Caribbean sounds tied in with early '80s New York New Wave sounds plus a hot saxophone. Very sexy album yes!

Honorable 6th mention-

Roberta Flack "Our Ages Or Our Hearts"
- From her debut, First Take. Gorgeous May-December love song that's been shadowed over by Flack's monster hits, covers & collaborations. I'm glad I rediscovered this soulful number recently.
