I've been listening more and more to Beirut's new album and love it just as much as last years. I wanted to know some artists who have had 2 such great albums before they are 21. Remember that he is fronting the bands, and these are in back to back years.

Not the topic I was expecting when I first clicked the link. But to derail your discussion momentarily - great albums for those at an infantile age.

The arctic monkeys made off pretty well for most all of them being young (18-21) at the time of their super hyped debut. Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes kind of propelled quickly to fame for singer song-writers, although he cycled through a lot of soon to be popular bands (or their prequels) to get there. I'm sure a lot of musicians and bands that we all know made some quality music in their earlier years that was never fully realized until they joined/created the bands we now associate them with.

Those hot young Runaways, all in their teens, when they released two monster albums, The Runaways and Queens of Noise.

Stevie Wonder released a buncha albums before 21, but at least two were really amazing- Uptight and Where I'm Coming From.

I have been pretty damn impressed by Deer Tick - "War Elephant" and the lead singer is 19.

Led Zeppelin. Plant was 19 and 21 respectively when the first 2 albums were made.

This is my first post, and let me just say, I'm honored to join a forum where people seem to care as much about music as I do...
That being said, what about Ryan Adams and his jaunts in Whiskeytown?
Also, when I first read the title of this thread "Great Albums At A Young Age," I thought it was referring to albums we as listeners thought were great at a young age. That might be a good topic for discussion...

Welcome aboard, PA! I'm not much of a Ryan Adams fan, but I LOVE Faithless Street and Stranger's Almanac. I believe RA was 20 or so when he recorded the former. Pretty incredible. Oh, and feel free to start up that other thread.

Patrick Wolf is still quite young and has 3 good albums. Andy Barlow was very young when Lamb's debut album came out. Arctic Monkeys have had 2 excellent albums and an EP and I think they're all still 21 or younger. Amy Winehouse seems to have had a full career already--from bright, early success to cynical decline. I believe the members of White Rabbits are really young. Lily Allen had a great debut album.
