If I had to pick just one album out of two bands' output, I'd definitely choose OK Computer.
But overall I like Pink Floyd better. Wish you were here, Dark side, and then Meddle, The Piper, The Wall, Animals, even Atom Heart Mother. Two excellent albums, and then lots of good ones.

I personally can't stand Pink Floyd. Their sound courts perception of greatness and their lyrics pander to angsty teenagers.
Doc note, I dissent. A fast never prevents a fatness! I diet on cod.

Pink Floyd for me. They're my longest-running personal favourite, I've pretty much grown up with their music. Whereas Radiohead, though I do like them, belong somewhere on the outer circles of my musical fandom.
If I think about it it's kinda surprising that I love Pink Floyd so much, since their music has the same feel to it that stops me from really loving Radiohead - dry, dour, sterile, often downright joyless. I think what ultimately pulls me in is the grandeur and otherworldliness present in Pink Floyd's music - which for me in Radiohead is downscaled to something a lot more, I don't know, ordinary. Kid A is probably the only album of theirs that leaves me with a powerful feeling of the otherworldly - which is probably why it's my favourite.

Radiohead might be my all time favorite band, but I am gonna have to go with Pink Floyd. Meddle is one of my favorite albums of all time and their other stuff is great too. Also, Pink Floyd is one of Radiohead's biggest influences so it seems unfair to put Radiohead above them.

Wow, Radiohead really destroyed Pink Floyd in the voting. I think that's pretty fair even if everybody is speculating on what influence Radiohead will have over the next 20 years.

You can’t make a poll like this. Of course Radiohead is going to win, and by far. If you went to the ProgArchives forums then who do you think is going to win? This is a poll that you can only do on the street.

I don't know about many of you, but I've grown up with Radiohead (from my teens to twenties), and I haven't grown up with Pink Floyd. This isn't to say that the Floyd is bad, but I have a lot more memories with Radiohead than Floyd. Also, as a side note, I saw a part of Roger Waters' set at Coachella, and it was... disappointing to say the least. Basically, it was like listening to the albums in surround sound, nothing more. None of the musicians really did much on stage, moved around, etc. The visuals were sub-par at best, especially compared to Kraftwerk (who played a day earlier). It's a shame, really, because I think if the original line-up were to get together, it would be incredible.

I didn't grow up with Radiohead and even though my parents liked Floyd, I never really got into them. I don't think I've enjoyed Radiohead in at least a year, maybe two. Pink Floyd, on the other hand, has given me some excellent music to explore. I can't help but feel like this poll will automatically turn into a "OK Computer vs. Dark Side of the Moon" situation for most people (in which case I would vote for OKC). When I look at the first three Floyd albums I see raw creativity; when I look at Radiohead I see good songwriting mixed with accessibility and popularity (which is what I'd say for Dark Side). I'll take early Floyd (and Pink Floyd in general) over Radiohead.. I think I already voted for Radiohead when this thread was first made though.

I'm sort of confused about the whole Floyd/Radiohead thing. For starters, I think both bands are wildly different. Radiohead have always had one foot firmly planted in that whole indie/jangly guitar/alternative/whatever-it-is territory whereas Floyd have largely represented the respectable mainstream face of progressive rock (discounting the Syd Barrett era). Personally, I prefer King Crimson to both bands. It's rare to find anyone on these 'critical analysis' forums who doesn't admire either Floyd or Radiohead with undying adoration which puts me in a minority. Don't get me wrong - both bands have produced works of total genius, but both have been equally guilty of being plain old boring and self-indulgent. There is a definite lack of humour and fun in much of their work and they often take themselves far too seriously. In that respect they are comparable. When I talk to older music enthusiasts who were around when prog-rock took off, they generally see Pink Floyd as the commercial face of the genre (along with later releases by Genesis). I grew up with Floyd in my childhood AND Radiohead in my teens - they were OK but I ultimately chose to listen to Mr Bungle and Frank Zappa. That was progressive and fun at the same time.

What are you talking about? Floyd definitely had a sense of humor. "Their fat psychopathic wives would beat them within inches of their lives"? "I've got a bike, you can ride it if you like"? "By the way, which one's Pink?" Granted, not everybody can be as funny as Zappa, but those guys had some chuckles in 'em.
------ Aren't there any girls out their who like good music? I need to and want to meet them. My favorite bands are Overkill River, The Nife, Songs:Ohio, and Nuetral Milk Hotel. Please let me know if your into indy music and like to go to show's and drink beer's and makeout.

It was stated that a lack of humour was evident in much of their work - not all. One could be forgiven for thinking that The Wall is hardly a laugh riot or a great record to get the party started, but I do recognise there is humour in there. As a sideline to this sub-topic, Radiohead were once featured in UK sit-com Father Ted. There's an episode where Ted cures a manically depressed priest who is fine until he catches the coach home and hears Radiohead on the car-stereo. He immediately bursts into tears.

Don't forget about the episode of South Park that Radiohead were in. They certainly have a sense of humor... sometimes. When Thom Yorke isn't freaking out about peak oil... or climate change. Anyway... I love both bands but would pick Radiohead. Maybe it's a generational thing.
