This has happened to me a few times. In Utero is a good example where I initially hated an album. Its one of my all time favourites now. I knew before I heard it that it was going to be a raw listening experience, totally unlike Nevermind and just totally more punk but I didnt like it at all untill I heard it a few weeks later.

Sometimes the recording style might have something to do with it. If you're used to listening to very bright, punch sounding albums then a mix with not a lot of compression on it will sound odd to you.

I have favorites from many years ago, but I have this weird thing going. What if I listen to the song and I no longer like it? I am attached to certain tunes from the way past and maybe I ought to just leave them there. That said, I love listening to music again and again that I have listened to and enjoyed since I was a pup.
