the individual members are still around. they may even have tried a come back.
but the magic is gone. they don't click together anymore. egos, money, and age
have all conspired to leave only the memories of former greatness.

i choose mazzy star.

Man Or Astroman. I'm not sure why they broke up, maybe they went as far as they could together musically.

Uncle Tupelo. Much as I like Wilco and Son Volt, I still miss UT.

Hmmm...Without thinking too hard about it, two bands that come to mind are Roxy Music and The Psychedelic Furs. Supposedly Roxy Music may have a new one coming out featuring Ferry and Eno, but I haven't been able to find a lot of info on it. I miss The Smiths, too.

Funny you choose them as I am listening to "So Tonight That I Might See" for the 3rd time in a row right now. I just got the album yesterday. Very hypnotic. I also ordered their other two online today.

Not that I'm a huge Rage Against the Machine fan, but I wish they would have stuck together.

Ooooh. Good one. I was a huge fan. I would also like to see The Police again.

This is a tough question, since most bands tend to err on the side of staying together too long after their creativity has peaked. In the words of Neil Young, "It's better to burn out than to fade away."

The Delgados. I loved that band. Emma Pollock has a solo record coming out sometime this coming year, and it'll be interesting to see if it stands up to the last three (excellent) Delgados albums.

The Masters of the Hemisphere, never got too popular and were still on the up and up, but something happened, who knows what, fantastic stuff still

I really miss Letters To Cleo (loved Kay's solo album, but they were great power pop.)

Gotta be Crowded House -- they reached their peak with "Together Alone" and wrapped it up after that. A beautiful pop band. R.I.P. Paul Hester.

Soundgarden.

Chris Cornell has decided he's happy just writing really safe, really bland junk.

I agree, but I would have to refine it to pre-"Superunknown" Soundgarden. I never got into that one. Badmotorfinger is still my favorite. I also can't stand Audioslave.
