i love the recent Foo Fighters double album 'In your Honor'
It makes for the perfect road trip/getaway soundtrack.
Play the rock disc in the car while cruising the highway to get you stoked for the weekend.
Throw on the acoustic disc when you're relaxing on the dock/in front of the fire/wherever you're gearing down.
Rinse.
Repeat.

;p I like the quieter numbers a lot (especially Tonight, Tonight) and the hard rockers, while generally good, I tire of after so long. Still pretty solid though. quote: Quadrophenia
Honestly I'm not sure how much I like The Who in album form. I was disappointed by Who's Next, I guess I'll still check out a few more of their real classic albums like Tommy/Quadrophenia to make up my mind quote: The Headphone Masterpiece
I had no idea who this guy was until this post when I looked him up, though I am intrigued now. I really don't listen to enough R&B/Soul

I probably haven't listened to enough of the Foos either. I generally dig the singles ("I'll Stick Around" on Beavis And Butthead was pretty great) They're another one I need to check out a lot more, I like the way you described In Your Honor.

that's one double album i've never been able to get into. there are a couple of songs i enjoy but all in all, i don't think i've ever gotten through it all in one straight listen. it's all over the place and there's a lot a great potential but i find it too ...... undone, if not makes any sense
Mix a little folly with your plans: It is sweet to be silly at the right moment.

I'm sort of in the same boat. I liked him alright in small doses-- when he wasn't just copping Lenny Kravitz-- but the whole album was pretty tedius.

I respectfully say, that I believe you are both missing the point of the Headphone Masterpiece, so let me give you a little backstory. Cody was originally in rock and roll band called Crosswalk, that was dropped from their Major label before even releasing an album, and Cody went into his room, and what spewed out was the Headphone Masterpiece. Of course its all over the map. There's no editing. It's just a man, with some great ideas, but not necessarily having the means to properly express them. I mean, my god, in my opinion, Cody ChesnuTT carries his balls in a fucking Wheel barrow. No its not a perfect record, but the sheer ambition of it, is what rates it so high in my eyes. Oh, and Maximum Jack....Lenny Kravitz fucking sucks

Well I passed out and The Wall still didn't get it. Should say something.
I like The Wall, but by "side 4", it does get a little long-winded. If they'd stopped after "Comfortably Numb" it would've been better. "Run Like Hell" is the only song on the forth side anyone cares about anyway, and they could've easily swapped that for one of the three parts to "Another Brick in the Wall". Blasphemy! I pretty much worship everything Pink Floyd ever made (Except Piper).

I really wanted to! Maybe, with time... Of the Floyd's I've heard all the way through, I'll rank them: The Dark Side Of The Moon Wish You Were Here The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn The Wall Animals (what a chore this was to listen to) I'll give them more spins as is required, later, super crazy Roger Waters era Floyd doesn't impress as easily the first time as the earlier stuff.

It's also a burner-outer, meaning that if you listen to it every night for several months when you were in 9th grade, you will probably never want to here it again.

Sure, but could this not be said of many albums?

What's wrong with their first album? I think it's their best.

Well, the other day I was listening to JJJ (National Australian Radio), and the dj said that the Foo Fighters enjoy their greatest success and recognition in Oz. I've never been a fan, but to stay on topic I recommend everyone go forth and buy Todd Rundgren's Something Anything. Another poster (too lazy to check) mentioned it also. A true, worthy double recording.
Oh, could I feel as I have felt, or be what I have been, Or weep as I could once have wept, o'er many a vanished scene; As springs in deserts found seem sweet, all brackish though they be, So, midst the withered waste of life, those tears would flow to me.
