I was just wondering if anybody else thought that the season really depends on whether or not you can enjoy the album. Or whether or not it's more enjoyable during said season. For example:
Summer -
Phoenix - It's Never Been Like That
The Most Serene Republic - Phages

It's not an album, but I only play U2's "Beautiful Day" on gorgeous sunny days when I'm out driving. Never when it's raining.

Speaking of rain, Death Cab for Cutie's Transatlanticism is reserved almost exclusively for rainy days. The atmospherics just suit it.

So for me it's the weather more than the season. And some albums are more suited to driving at night. Something like The Eraser for instance, I'm much more likely to play at night than during the day.

I usually listen to more ska & reggae during winter months. Music which has that tropical island feel is nice to listen to when it's cold outside.

I've found that listening to Funeral during a blizzard reminds me of how great it is, and then the enthusiasm cools off during the summer months. Strange. It must be a winter album (I guess that's fairly obvious from the content though). I highly suggest going outside during a snowstorm and playing it through, it's unreal.

Ha, I was just about to say that Funeral definitely suits winter/when it's raining. Not surprising I suppose, seeing as "snow" is in the first line. No snowstorms in Australia unfortunately. Travelling to Canada just to listen to Funeral in the snow sounds like a good idea though.

Beulah is a summer band.

Now that I think of it, though, Arcade Fire and Radiohead are very winter-friendly.

Shoegaze suits the Winter months for me.

Songs: Ohia - "Magnolia Electric Co." (actually most Americana/Country)

Vampire Weekend - s/t (I live on Cape Cod in the summer so this is definitely going to be THE summer album of 08 for me)

Red Hot Chili Peppers are the ultimate summer band (and they know this - hence why their last 3 albums have all been released in the summer).

The time of day affects what music I'll listen to, rather than the season or even my mood. Sadly, most of my music is either night-oriented or just waking up in the morning. Nothing really fits the afternoon.

Oh yeah, Kings of Convenience - Riot on an Empty Street is more of a later summer, autumn album for me.

Pretty much any good black metal is perfect for the depths of winter, when it's cold and cloudy and preferably snowing, but it's really hard to take seriously when it's sunny outside.

Everyone is talking about summer and winter, what about spring and autumn?

Broken Social Scene's Beehives is definetley a Spring album for me, as is Rogue Wave's Descended Like Vultures.

Modest Mouse's This is a Long Drive for Someone With Nothing to Think About, definetley falls under the Autumn category.

Belle and Sebastian - "The Life Pursuit" always has been a spring album for me, it's just so damn peppy.

As for autumn, Magnolia Electric Co. - "Fading Trails" has gotten a lot of play from me the last two falls.

It doesn't make me enjoy their albums more but I always thought that Wilco are a great band to hear in autumn.
