I've read a lot of things on this forum and other places where people say that they don't like the Arcade Fire. They say things like "we know who their influences are," and things like that. What is this all about?
It's called a "backlash"...and when it comes to indie rock, the behavior exhibited by those contributing to the backlash is just assinine and foolish. The Arcade Fire caught everyone off guard with the release of the amazing, Funeral. Then people listened to it till their ears hurt and along came the very good, Neon Bible. All the "cool" indie kids don't like Neon and it's for no good reason except they are posers who think the Arcade Fire got too big or something ridiculously lame like that. "We know who their influences are?". Who gives a shit? So they used a little Springsteen on the new record. Everyone on this board salivates over the much overrated Hold Steady and they are the worst Springsteen clones I've ever seen.
"don't get sentimental...it always ends up drivel"
