Split Enz - "Six Months in a Leaky Boat"

And now I know where Ted Leo got the phrase "tyranny of distance" from.

Hymie's Basement- s/t: I actually think this record is better than anything both Why? and Fog have done.

R.E.M.'s Around The Sun -- not exactly a great record, but I've been on a major R.E.M. kick the last couple days. Yummy.

"You Go On Ahead (or... Trumpet Trumpet, Toot Two...)" by Sunset Rubdown

Live on the black cab session. This guy is amazing. I can't express how impressed I am with the things that so constantly come out of this guy are.

Annwn ~ Ocrilim

Ringing sheets of turned-up-to-11 bass and guitar noise and little else -- two tracks in and there doesn't appear to be anything else, actually. At first it's noise, and annoying noise at that, but I'm finding it more absorbing and beautiful as I go through it.

"Patience" - Ruarri Joseph (then the rest of the album)

In the words of Shakin' Stevens, "lovely stuff".

"A Change Is Gonna Come" - Sam Cooke

Hands down one of the best songs ever recorded.

I had a stick of CareFree gum, but it didn't work. I felt pretty good while I was blowing that bubble, but as soon as the gum lost its flavor I was back to pondering my mortality.

Moby's Last Night, from this year.

Monotonous and rather inelegant, but listenable.

Relistening to one of the best "fun" albums of the year, Apocalypso from The Presets. Still strikingly solid, groovy electronic music, with some nice swagger and uniqueness in the vocals.

Isn't anything by Portishead supposed to be great!
It's probably more a record for December and frosty winter season.
Now playing
