"Suburban Wing" by Atomic Swing. From their best-of, which I found disappointing.

The Smiths - "Asleep"

I've always wondered what the song playing at the very end was. It sounds like Auld Lang Syne to me.

"Between the Star System" by the Low Fidelity Jet Set Orchestra. Excellent exotic/mod funk, another killer release on the marvelous Hammond Beat label.

"Guilt" by the Long Blondes from the new album, Couples. This album is more cohesive than their debut, though I still prefer it over the follow-up. More stand-out songs on the first- especially "Giddy Stratospheres". Since I'd heard most of the debut on EPs and such, I look at it more as a compilation. Still, Couples is a great album and sounds better with time, even with a couple songs I'm not warming up to.

Anyway, "Guilt" reminds me of the Motels. I'll have to put it on a mix-cd next to "Suddenly Last Summer".

Ben Sollee - Learning to Bend

Sounds like Andrew Bird if he played bluegrass. Sollee plays cello.

"Mademoiselle Kitty" by the Solipsistics. Named after a character in Wings' "Rock Show" song. Power pop band whose vocalist can sound like McCartney (or Billy Joel or Emitt Rhodes). Musically & lyrically, no, not like these guys, but leans more towards Of Montreal.

I'm listening to my neighbors cuss and scream at each other while eatin' ribs, with Willie Nelson playing in the background.

...nice...
