Eleanoora Rosenholm - Vainajan Muotokuva

Some unique Finnish pop. It's really crazy stuff, and I like it.

"Silver Knickers (But You Are All Right)" by Jane from Lady Jane. German prog band, this is their '74 album. The new vocalist wasn't too good but the music was very nice.

elpuoC ddO ehT - Gnarles Barkley

Some of it works, some doesn't, but some of it is really cool, still prefer the proper version

"A Grand Love Story" by Kid Loco

Mix a little folly with your plans: It is sweet to be silly at the right moment.

"All Shine On" by the Handcuffs. Power pop/garage rock a la Blondie. Pretty nice stuff.

"I'm Getting Myself Ready for You" by Janet Klein & Her Parlor Boys. Old time jazz, ragtime, swing revival- RIYL R.Crumb, Squirrel Nut Zippers & Cab Calloway. Some real fun songs on the album though there are too many songs here.

Richard Buckner - Devotion + Doubt

Just started listening to this for the first time, and it's sounding like it deserves all the praise I've heard for it.

I love that song. It has become one of my favorite AC songs. And agreed, great EP.

"Berlin" by Baldwin Drive. Some nice power pop moments on the album are over weighed by too many MOR rock moments.

"Collecting Shields" by Efterklang off the Duyster Volume 3 compilation.

didn't know what or who Duyster was. it's a belgian show playing stuff many here would like. If you can get your hands on any of their comps, i strongly recommend it

"Shady Mountain River" by Pale Hollow. Still not sure what to make of this. Absolute Powerpop has it at their 2nd favorite disc of the year, so far. Great music, lyrics and vocals, with influences from late '60s Kinks, early REM, Neil Young, a folkier Smithereens and even some hints of prog. I'm already wanting to hear it again soon.
